Thread: Hello Rangers, question from a returning player
). I was just wondering if the info in the Ranger Central post had been updated since the CU?

My char is currently Master Pistoleer, with a little bit of BH. And i have my respec to do.
Basically wondering if pistols would be worthwhile keeping, or, respec to rifles (carbs). Kind of looking for a good partnering combat prof to compliment ranger to its fullest.
Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions will be greatfully received.
Just a note:
I am not respeccing to ranger, wouldnt dream of it, i have been Master Scout a couple of times with this char, so i will respec that far, gonna do ranger from the beginning, need to learn to play it first.

Each weapons category has it's good and bad.
With respect to Pistoleer - The specials are good for both creatures and NPCs. The SP cost sucks. You have little left after making Master in Ranger and Pistoleer. The change was the addition of requiring the entire ranged support tree for each of the ranged professions - i.e. Pistoleers need to do the pistol and ranged trees, an extra SP drain. Rifle is the same deal, the extra tree sucks out SP.
BH is the only "ranged" profession that coupled with Ranger leavs you any SP for other stuff. Bad news is the specials are weak and without a droid and traps, some of the larger creatures will eat your lunch on a regular basis. Good news is the specials are not weapon centric anymore, and can be used with a pistol, rifle or carbine.
Two Master Rangers with MBH can kick major butt though. And you harvest a ton.

Thanks for the sound advice JBMat, i do have a lot of weapons from pre-cu, pistols (krayt scatter HC) and an assortment of carbs and rifles, also droids..
So MBH could be the way forward for me
