Thread: A Thing I've Noticed

Cruising through the other profession forums, one tends to see "We are nerfed" or "What's the besttemplate" or "WHEN ARE YOU DEVS GONNA FIX (fill in the blank) FOR US" posts.

It seems we rangers tend not to whine and complain as much as other professions.I don't recall seeing much whining or complaining even when our trap droids stopped working for a bit. Like me, I am sure most other rangerssimply adapted until the problem was resolved. Maybe that is a personality trait for people that have rangers; Adapt as the situation demands.

Of course, most people playing rangers seem to do it because they enjoy the profession. And if you enjoy the profession, you work within its limitations while accenting it's strenghts. After all, being a Master Ranger is not going to help you become the ubergod PvPer on your server.

We tend to roll with the jibes and derisions heaped on us by others. "Why would anyone WANT to be a ranger!" After all, there will come a time when they need that elusive quest mob or creature found and comeasking a ranger for help. Or they'd like an entertainer to give them an inspiration buff in the middle of nowhere and need a camp set up. Or find themselves wondering how they'll get past all those aggressive mobs and start asking to be camoflauged.

From what I have seen, most of us are not in it for the money, though we can make quite a bit farming resources. Heck, most of the time I'll just barter with docs and chefs who are regular customers. Sure, I'll get youX amount of resources for below market value, just save a crate or two ofsynthsteak for me or toss me a few buffs next time I see ya.

Anyway, I enjoy being a ranger and don't care that it takes up so many skill points.I still have enough to hold my own as a pistoleer when needed. Besides, its fun to run around Dathomir unarmored, camoflauged, with camo bioengineered clothing andnot have nightsisters bother you.

Exactly.

while we do have our disagreements and debates, its always for the betterment of the profession we enjoy.

to me, a Nerf is something Creature Handlers should be herding, not something that should be complained about.

I agree. to me Nerf means the Devs found something that unbalenced the game in some way and decided to take it out, if that's the case then no one should be whining about it. For example our Pop-tarts got nerfed, but there wasn't an uproar over here really ( a little bit). I think the uproar was that they are willing to fix something that makes us powerful, but not fix stuff that makes us broken.

To continue with the derailment, nerfs can be both good and bad for professions and good or bad for the game. Nerf really just means a change from the established norm...at least to me.

I'm with Calk on that, nerf only got a negative meaning on the forums because it is used in the whining all the time, but it isn't allways a bad change that whiners call nerf when you look at the big picture. And besides, when you have a look at the "Ranger Birthdays" thread you will notice that most rangers are out of there teens, some even well into and over the twenties, meaning more mature posters, but you are allowed to prove me wrong on this

Commando, now there is a whiney board. Not as bad as the jedi, though. And now with teh 30-1 Combat xp I am sure I'll see less jedi grinders lobbing grenades at things.

Lucky us that even though scout XP is only 8-1 most ubergodwannabes don't want the skills they can buy with it.
