Ok, so I have/had a part rifleman/part ranger toon on Starsider that I enjoyed playing before the CU........my main toons are on Bria and I'd play the Starsider toon when I wanted to get away from everyone and go enjoy the scenery. Now before the CU I had read the "guide to hunting unbuffed" etc. and that had been my plan. The solo ranger running around killing whatever was the current good spawn of meat or hide and selling it along with just exploring and not having to be tied to doc buffs and a starport. Well, then the CU came and my character that was able to survive decently using laser rifles and T21's occasionally was now mid-high 20's CL so I haven't touched him since.
I'm curious, is it still possible to do the solo thing as a rifleman/ranger or are you stuck to finding a group? I haven't checked the rifleman forums to see if tactics like cover and concealshot are still effective at taking things out before they can aggro you so I'll just ask. If rifleman is no longer a good setup for a solo ranger is there another ranged or even melee profession that would allow me to do this? I still have the final token respec left on the toon to use to put him back to ranger/whatever and it would be nice to have a playable toon on another server again. I had respec'd him to some BH and other junk right after the CU for some unknown reason and haven't played him since, he doesn't even have any weapons he can use right now due to the CL req's of the laser rifle and the proff. requirement of the T21. Anyway thanks for any opinions you guys can offer.

One suggestion is to read the thread on big game hunting that is a great guide. I solo some game using my rifles and ranger skills. Post CU it is all about understanding your skills and using all of them. Not using uber this or that. Use concealshot, sniper shot, throw traps, use your terrain negotiation skills, etc. I think you will like ranger/rifleman.

Sounds good, I just needed to know it was possible. Just gonna bea lot harder getting through rifleman now lol. I know absolutely nobody on starsiderso I guess I'll be off to the MO to find grind groups to get through that.

Ranger Rifleman is great but depending on what you want to hunt Carbineer Ranger may be better

lol doh too late. What kind of stuff are we talking about? Anyway already used the ole token respec to get back to Ranger 1000. I didn't touch the Rifles 2100 that I had already. That seems kind of low though so I think I lost some points somewhere from right after the CU when I took the toon to some screwy combo of partial BH and part rifles. Man I must have been drunk the night I did that lol.

you know, I keep seeing people tell people to read that guide...i'm thinking a sticky might be in order.
