I'm starting to produce crates of Ranger & Scout supplies (camo kits, camps, and traps) but have no idea how much to charge for such products. Any ideas you might have would be greatly appreciated. In particular, I'm interested in what you would be willing to pay for:

(1) a crate of Basic Camp Kits (25 per crate);

(2) a crate of High Tech Field Bases (25 per crate);

(3) a crate of camo kits for a starter planet (25 per crate);

(4) a crate of camo kits for an advanced planet (25 per crate); and

(5) a crate of traps (any type is possible).

Thanks.

I've just been charging 5-6 credits per resource into the item. For instance, basic camps use 15 resources (10 hide, 5 bone) per camp. So a crate of 25 would cose 15 x 25 x 5 = 1875 credits low end to 2625 on the high end.

Expect to sell more basic camps than anything else. The scout traps will pretty much just be bought by people who want to grind trapping XP for master scout. I don't sell much of the higher end camps and traps.

That was supposed to read 5 - 7 credits per resource.

newbie question - how do you create crates? Do I need to use a factory for this?

I asked about this about a week ago, and although I never got around to selling them (I've been doing just fine selling Avian meat this last shift), there were a few useful replies:

Market for camo kits?

Er... there are rangers who buy this stuff? I've got tens of thousands of resources sitting around, crappy ones that I can't sell. So I use them to make my camps, traps /gag, and camo kits. As far as I can tell, quality doesn't matter a bit with them. So who out there isn't able to harvest enough resources to create their own, and still have the nerve to call themself a ranger?

For figuring out what to charge folks for the items I sell, here is how I go about doing it.

For small quantities of resourcesless than 1-2k, I charge 1-2 cpu depending on OQ. With small quantities, they aren't really good for factory runs so I offload them cheaply.

For larger quantities of resources more than 1-2k, I use the following formula below to determine a Fair Market Value (FMV). Please note that if you want to charge these higher prices, you are going to have to have a vendor or make deliveries because you will need to advertise and get a customer base. Also, you would need to be willing to store the items for awhile sometimes when they are not high in demand. I sometimes have to wait for my cash but eventually I find a buyer. P.S. this isa formula I got from someone else...it is not my original design

OQ/100 + (Otherstats-300)/200 + 1 = FMV

Otherstats can be any of the following: SR, FL, UT, PE, and DR

You can repeat the middle section of the formula for any Otherstat over 300. Right now, the above otherstats are the ones that actually can effect outcomes for different professions. This list will change will time.

This formula will give you a maximum of 21.5. Since you will never have all 1000s for stats, you will get an average of around 20 maximum for most resources which is usually fair for great resources. If you have something withhigher than 975 OQ, you may be able to get more than 20 cpu.

OK...so you ask yourself, "Self, why is he talking so much about resources when I am talking about factory crates?" Because you will need to know how much your resources would sell for or how much you bought them for. Then, you can go to www.swgcraft.com They have GREAT tools for you to feed information into to determine break even costs. They even remind you that you need to account for the energy and maintenance of your factory runs when determining costs.

I have found that if I have items crated, I can sell them for about 20% over cost. Right now, I sell Basic Camp Kits for 120 each so a crate of25 sells for 3,000.

OK...hope this helps. Now, this is just what I am currently doing and always looking for input. I put all of this in for 2 reasons...hopefully it will help some other folks and others can also share some of their experiences that may be different then mine. Thanks!

Depends on what kind of player you are...I have a buddy who can only get on at a maximum of 1 time per week (7 kids...need I say more). He would rather buy stuff and go kill things then spend his time crafting. The Basic Camp Kits I am selling more of now with mounts. People love getting the camps in crates so they can carry a bunch of them without taking the inventory space. I haven't tried the lower end traps market yet but I may find business there too. Allows me to get a little more for my bad resources. My 2 cents...

(1) 1500 cr maybe.

(3) wouldn't be interested

(4) A whole crate is a lot, but I'd probably be willing to pay 10,000+ for a crate of 25.

(5) 6000+ for a crate of 25 high-end traps

Jeezley freaking crap you need a PHD in math to figure out this stuff.

How bout, I would not pay for what I can go out and make outta stuff animals seem all too willing to give to me.

I foolishly boughtsome harvestors - Why would a Ranger need a harvestor - now I have tons and tons of metal and poly and neat stuff I can sell to people grinding their way to Jedi.

But but, it's in crates. Wow, my stuff is in stacks, take like a minute to make it. Never really needed a camp that quick. Traps I make in bulk before a hunting trip, and I make more while waiting on others to heal in camp.

Camo kits, ohh, a winner. Cept my craft machine has a load stored. I get what I need before I go, let everyone carry a kit (usually 15 uses, my machine is good) and then trade em to me when we need em.

So, the ultimate answer in may case - hey, you want I should take a few of them crates off your hands, you can pay me to do it !

I tried this once, the selling dealy. Sold like no camps, couple of traps, but my powerups (when I had artisan) kicked butt. Sigh, said bye to artisan a long time ago. And that was on Dantooine I think, home of insane hunters.

Jeeze, just make the stuff already
