Thread: New ranger...ranger pvp?
i am a novice ranger (2-0-2-2) and i am really enjoying it. i would like to thank all the rangers on chalistara that have answerd questions and tought me skills. Even imperial rangers are gracious enough towards a rebel ranger....lol... ranger feels more like an elite proffession than any other elite proffessions that i have tried. it is nice that there aren't 30 rangers when you go to that cantina or med center..unlike medics...10 medics for 1 patient...lol it got old .. i like being somewhat able to help freinds find certain animals. they always say "you can do that?" in regards to finding different animals and such. good times!
one question though. Are there plans to improve ranger pvp?
Congrats on making ranger. Hope you enjoy it as much as the most of us do.
As to PvP, we are a combat support class. You can pick up a combat class - ranged or melee weapons, and get really good in it and still have some skill points left over for a dabble in something else. We are really decent in PvE, especially with ranged weapons as they get bonuses right now ( and it should be fixed for the melee rangers ).
I am a Master Ranger, Master Scout, Medic 0/0/3/0 and Pistoleer 4/2/4/4. Right now, with minimal effort and maximum traps, I am soloing torturs for fun and profit. I am not getting touched, and taking out lairs in about 10 mins for an easy 4k plus harvest. I had to work up to this, countless durni and paralopes have died by my hand.
As to PvP, I rely on the Pistoleer and Medic skills. Rumor says soon we will be trapping pets in PvP, and if so, we will be very nice to have around. That will kick some serious butt.
Until then --- drive on and get to the point where you can camo up and play tag with enraged rancors. Makes your partners wet themselves either laffing or in fear, which I am not sure. "I soiled my armor"

Vomne, if you ever need training or help, you can talk to me. We're also putting a collective together if you're interested. Just send me a tell sometime.

We are one of the most useless classes for PvP. Pardon my candor, but my friend who is a archt, could almost kill me in a duel using a CDEF.
lol
1.) Terrain Negotiation: if you're fighting in the mountains, or something similar, the movement bonus is a huge boon to PvP - but this is a Master Scout ability.
2.) Tracking: if you're attentive and know who you're hunting, the ability to track players is quite useful - and a great deal less buggy than tracking NPCs.
3.) Cammo: if you can draw a fight into an area with a number of hostiles around, cammo can be a big boon over mask scent as well.
Having said this, if you're going ranger for PvP - just max out the tracking branch, use mask scent in place of cammo and spent the rest of your points on creature handler.
how can you forget /rescue
is your buddy taking way too much fire? Is the enemy ignoring you for some odd reason? /rescue yer friend, suddenly, your enemy has a full health bar to contend with while your friend is still kicking his butt.
