Thread: Anyone else expect /conceal to change your image on screen?

I was all excited when I had earned enough experience to get my first Ranger skill box and I picked Wayfairing for the cool ability to wear camoflage. Now I have a question, is there any way to tell that your actually wearing it? I was expecting leaves and grass and twigs to be sticking out of my wookie fur much like a sniper's camo suit. Well, I thought, no graphic is not too bad, at least I'll be able to attack higher level NPCs than before since they can't detect me. Well, I never got to test that because I couldn't even tell that the camo kit was active. I made up a batch and applied one and there's no icon or anything to tell me it's active. Is this right or am I missing something?

If any devs are reading, how about when we craft a camo suit, it creates a gilly (sp?) suit and places it in our inventory. We then can wear this suit like any other clothes (wearable by wookies, of course). The suit would stay with us until it naturally degraded over a set period of time that increses with xp but should start at about 45 minutes to an hour (taking it off would stop this degradation). These suits could be given to group members or sold on the bazaar. If a creature broke the camo, it alone would then have a % chance to attack. Creatures we attack while camo'ed would have the same chance to break it as if we were not attacking and if they didn't, they'd have to stand and eventually die or run away in a random direction. This then could lead to them getting closer and having a better chance to break camo.

I actually don't have a problem with the resource requirements except that a Ranger should be able to collect all the needed ingredients by himself. Fifteen + points tied up in Artisan doesn't seem to be reasonable. I mean, were talking about Wheat and Oats, etc. Doesn't this seem to be the realm of the Scout/Ranger more than the Artisan anyway.

Well, just my 2 cents. Any comments?

Caput,

You aren't the only one who voiced this wish. I honestly never thought about it.

But now that I have, I think it would be cool if we looked a little different with /conceal on.

I think most rangers would unanimously cheer if when we clicked conceal, we looked like a shrubery.

Mabe im a dreamer, but i am hoping one day that the conceal will work against PC's, with them still having the ability to see you if you run by them, just not prewared on radar. This would make the "blending in" visual just $$.

"This would make the "blending in" visual just $$"

- Sadly, all someone would have to do is look in your general direction for the floating name over your head.

- And hence the reason the PvP Conceal implementation will probably take 4 months to work out completely.

Yes! We should change to green or have some leaves daggling out of our shorts! I don't want to be accussed of "training" someone when I'm concealed and running through a sea of RED and then get reported for training because my conceal break!

And I have been cussed out before for "training" someone that didn't understand that when I ran through the sea of RED, I was on MaskScent and I was not attracting animals toward them.

I honestly never even thought of that. It would be good to see them change the state icon and messages that go with /conceal first though. Currently it's the same nose from mask scent, and the messages are the same as mask scent when it wears off. And if you float over the state for /conceal it says mask scent.

As many resources as we have to acquire in order to /conceal we should have a ghillie suit.

I have an idea for how Camo Kits could have been done.

  • Remove the charges and duration from the kit andmake each planets camouflage a customizedwearable item that is worn in the jacket slot. That way each planets kit could have its own animation as well as being able to remove it and reapply it untill it is destroyed.

  • As it is worn in an several armor slots (chest and shoulders) this gives it some hinderance

  • Give it a low condition so that when you take so much damage the suit takes an equal amount and would be destroyed after a few hits, but would not evaporate just becuse it is seen through by one creature.

Maybe this is a crazy idea, but I wanted to get some feedback on this. You never know, they may decide to totally revamp the camo kit implentation.

For an added layer of difficulty, make it match te camo kit we used. On Tat, you are suddenly a bit more sand colored than usual for Endor, you are green.. etc

If we can't do the camo-look right now- that's cool, but at least give us a different icon from maskscent.

- Agreed. The Art department must be really overbooked, they haven't given us new icons for the commands that were added... No new animations for /areatrack... Reused the Mask Scent icon on the HUD...

- I mean really, what could be taking all their time?

"Dang Bantha just threw that character again, try drawing him this way instead."

Iwas also expecting a change in my character with a camo kit applied. I also think that at the very least, with a camo kit you should not be seen on radar by other players.

And the camo kit should be better than mask scent.
