Thread: Dizzy traps
Come up on a animal thats laying down, throw a dizzy trap...it gets up and charges.
Hit an animal with a dizzy trap, and then hit it with knockdown...it gets up and charges.
If I get hit wiht a dizzy in PvP, I spend the next 30 seconds trying to get off my back.
So, if dizzy only works on humanoids (ie NPC's and players), then WHY IS IT A TRAP? Has anyone been able to effectively use dizzy traps?
Never.
Not once has a dizzy effect made a creature I was fighting fall over or become prone... whether the effect be caused by trap or flurryshot.
I even took into consideration that there may not be an animation being used for them to fall over, but I have tested it many times and never seen a creature fall or even stop attacking after a dizzy posture change.
maybe it's just the animation?
with my traps i see the state of it in text rise from the critter, dizzy, range defense down, melee defense down, state down.
do they still attack? yep.
Hmmm, does dizzy work?
Well, before the big nasty patch, dizzy traps would only affect 2-legged creatures. So if the animal has 2 legs, it had a chance of working, if it didn't have any legs, or had 4 legs, then they were immune to the effects of dizzy.
After the lastbig nasty patch (sometime last week I believe), dizzy has absolutely no effect in PvE. I haven't done any PvP, but apparently it is all too effective. I had a melee attack I used that would give the dizzy status effect, then I could posture change the target, and the target would fall (unless it didn't have 2 legs). Now, utterly useless. I can use the same tactics (that hit less often and less chance of status effects), but the dizzy is useless.
The only traps I use are Phecnacine dart and Glowire, and sometimes adhesive mesh. Ranger traps I forgot about and other scout traps seemed buggy, but the above three are my mainstay.

I "adheshive meshed" a dallyrake the other night and I got the "Snared" message seying it worked but the 8 legged little barsket was still running after me as I burst ran away.
What is all that about?
