Just a silly idea, but with the pending /track command, how about a "bird" dog to help track?

They could be crafted by Bio-engineers (cause they need some serious love), non-aggro, low HAM, maybe even planet specific (ala cammie kits).

Sort of like BH droids, but for Rangers only. They could help increase the chance of finding that elusive prey that your group wants to hunt.

Ok, stupid idea done, I am back to hunting,

Hunting animals would be nice, but I think they would be better implemented as a command that Creature Handlers can teach to an animal.

"Daddy, what's that bad man doing to my (Star Wars)?"

"Son, that bad man is (SOE), and he's **edit**ing your (Star Wars)."

either way both are cool,

its things like this, counting coup, and animal calls/lure and other stuff which makes this game cool, makes it an actuall RP game, and gives you somethign to still do after you max out your character.

Dont you guys remember in Return of the Jedi when Yoda said to luke
"luke, you must kill 1000 ewoks to become l33t !"
or
"Luke, the force is only to be use for knowledge and defense, never for attack, unless your slaughtering defensless ewoks for force crystals"

Personally, in real life, I am somewhat of a creature handler / ranger. Yep, I have two beagles I trained myself to hunt rabbits. The beagles hit for 2 - 3 points of damage every three seconds. But they have a hell of an intimidation attack on rabbits with their barking. They then chase the rabbits in a wide circle until the rabbit comes back to me, where he meets a cloud of lead pellets traveling at three times the speed of sound, and subsequently ends up in a pot.

Maybe if we had animals that could be trained to chase animals? Instead of the creature tanking, it just intimidates the animal into running around while you blast it.

I am in the same situation... I also train my dogs (2 border collies) and to have the dogs have an animal version of "threaten shot" would be great. I just started being a ranger (2.1.2.1) and by far it is the most fun Ive had.

The lure ability as a ranger would be invaluable I think...maybe we could /forage for food....and on the radial menu have a bar that says "lure" the animal will eat the food if accepting the lure or refuse and have a percent chance to attack.

On the lures, I hope that different lures attract different animals. I know this will make it harder, but it will add more depth to the profession. For example, I want to see carnivores attracted to lures stuffed with herbivore meat, and herbivores attracted to lures stuffed with veggies. Or maybe they can be attracted to lures stuffed with the 'scent' of their own species, so they leave the mob to find a boyfriend or girlfriend and end up meeting you. Wow, that's pretty sad really now that I think of it. Ronto: "I'm in love!" BOOM!

Ah, the vicious circle of life.

good thought Ypiana... I think the lure may be more rewarding if you had a Herbivore/ Carnivore specific foodstuff to craft. Im not to keen on the "lure trap" Ithink it should bemore like putting beef jerky in front of a dog.
