I'm currently a bounty hunter. As is I have to master scout and marksman. With the extreme difficulties of marks and what not I also picked up some medic and ch. Now as marks are not as hard and with non ch pets available I'm going to dump ch and pick up a little bit of another elite profession. I'm split though what should I pick?

I've narrowed it down to two... so I'll either take up Ranger or Squad Leader. For me it seems ranger would be a natural choice what with traps working on npcs (eventually) and the tracking system (granted it's not working all that great either)however you guys know more than I do. What would you suggest I do? SL and Ranger both have their good points (mostly in the future though lol) and bad points (all currently present)

Thanks so much for taking you're time out to help me.

I would imagine that Ranger training would compliment your Bounty Hunter skillsrather nicely ascollecting bountiesseems to be more of a solo activity.

I'm sure Squad Leader has its perks, but will they be usefull to you on your missions?

Tracking is immensely usefull, even in this unrefined state and our furture traps might give you a nice edge on your missions.

I don't know what Squad Leader can do for you as I have never been one.

"Daddy, what's that bad man doing to my (Star Wars)?"

"Son, that bad man is (SOE), and he's **edit**ing your (Star Wars)."

Rangere/BH might make an awesome combo - areatrack to find them once you are in the right city would be handy. Only, it may be not very useful until tracking 3 (no distance) but probably very useful after that. On the other hand Squad Leader is getting some incredible new abilities after one of the next big patches so it really depends on weather you spend a lot of time in groups ot solo most of the time. Yet a third option is to take both temporarily (not sure on the skill points you have left) and see which you like better. Thats the beauty of this game - you can surrender skill points until your fingers fall off.

Porag - Master Doctor/ Master CH
Tyndel - Master smuggler / TKM
Noone Special - Master Swordsman / Master Rifleman

You might want to try Ranger. It's easier to get than squad leader, since you're a Bounty Hunter you're forced to do a lot of soloing. If you can get the tracking line up to 4th level you can track not only your NPC marks (Don't your droids run out of energy sometimes? I dunno much about BH.)but also players. That would simply add cool points to a BH, if nothing else.

Also, field base and high tech field base have regeneration, albeit slow, for all three HAMs. So if you have the skill points to get them you could lick your wounds after a particularly hard fight. You also recover HAM pools at 1.95 and 2.00 speeds with those camps.

This exploit may not work anymore, but on two occasions I helped bounty hunters take down marks through the /rescue command.I asked both times, and since some of those marks are darn tough the hunter agreed. So I targeted the hunter when he was in combat with the mark and used /rescue, which enabled me to help him with the mark. You could team up with another BH for this if the exploit still works, haven't tried it for weeks.

You already have the good scout traps, and current Ranger traps are broken, though the tripwire might come in handy once it's implemented and working. It'll have knockdown effect and probably you can use it one at a time.

And if you take wayfaring line, you crawl faster, which can be good for all three of your ranged weapons. Wayfaring also gives you camo kits now, which can help you negotiate mobs while tracking your mark.

All in all, Ranger is the PvE master profession, and I'm having a good time with it. You might find it useful.

Ypiana, why do you suppose 'rescue' is an exploit? Does it work everytime so that the mob can't attack any one?

Well, I am a Master Ranger and just became Novice Bounty Hunter. Right now, I am not sure how much of the Investigation line I will obtain, but I do the occasional mission from time to time. At Novice BH, /areatrack is a nice "confirmation" that the mark is in the area. When I get close to the way point (about 300m) I do a quick check to see if the Mark is there.

Now, for my very limited observations. Bounty Hunter needs more use from being a Master Scout. Personaly, I think that Bounty Hunters should get additional Trapping Skill bonuses from their investigation line and they should get the Humanoid/Player Traps schematics. However, since both Rangers and BH's have the same Trapping skill, they canuse each other's Traps.

Idealy, the Ranger should be good verus creatures and the BH should be good verus Humanoids, (with some cross over for each.)
