Thread: Are rangers/scouts better at fishing ?
Anyone know if rangers/scouts are better at fishing? We get survival xp for fishing, but do we get any better at it?
If we dont, i really think we should, maybe add fishing to wilderness survival and give us better rods and stuff.
Anyway, just my opinion, im probaly the only one fishing anyway ![]()
Weird... I have no problems catching fish -- but what skill would that even be tied to? I know the xp goes to frontiering. You know on the fishing menu, it states density of fish and some other items? When do we get this information? Wayfaring? I only have one box there (1-3-4-4), so that has been my assumption.
And why is the schematic for the fishing pole tied into artisan? I can't make poles anymore ![]()
there is no skill mod to make anyone better at fishing. or at least it's not in the descriptions.
this is a good idea though. i would suppose a ranger would use fish to stay alive in the wild so would become a very good fisherman, and this will give us the ability to get fish for things like pet stim Ds or chef items that require it (or whatever else that does).
of course as a master ranger i'm always for ways to make more money, and as a master CH i get sets of pet stim Ds for less than Bs if i provide the fish. but ignoring my bias, it's a great idea!
also, there's a percentage modifier on the fishing rod, quality or something. the first rod i had was 13%, the second was 85%, but i didn't notice a different in my success rate or in the quality/quantity of the fish i caught.
Fishing has definetly changed since launch...
I used to catch fish by performing NO ACTION during the fishing routine...
Now it is REQUIRED to perform an action at EVERY window refresh after your initial +nibble+
I usually keep spamming "tug right" after I see my first +nibble+ then you should get +bite+ (keep spamming) then you will see +caught something?+ (you can stop spamming) then it is just chance after that whether you will reel in your catch or not.
The moments after +caught something?+ seem random and uncontrollable by the player and the most important variable in your success seems to be your current level.
The actual branch of scouting/ranger is unknown to me, but I think you can find the determining branch in the last few weeks of update notes ( I think the "big patch's" update notes list the branch.)
At Master Ranger I seem to catch fish 9 out of 10 tries.
YOU WILL LOSE YOUR BAIT if you don't perform an action after +nibble+...
happy happy, joy joy
Tug right and left until you get a +Bite+.
Then Tug Up. For some reason, this seems to hit the "Caught Something" more frequently than any other command.
When you get +Caught Something+, Small Reel In and wait.
That's it!
Happy fishin'!
