Thread: New Ranger Ability: Call Creature
I remember hunting with my grandfather when i was younger. He had a deer call. Its this little tool that allows someone to get a deer to come closer to you. You can call it down from its location.
Im a Master Ranger on Lowca... what do i use to call a creature? A scout blaster... thats my tool.
I would like a /callcreature command that brings a targeted creature closer to the player. This isnt far fetched, it can be done by any old man or young child on the planet Earth, im sure that someone in the star wars universe could do it too (i make huge camps out of Hide Bone and Steel). This would actually add a little more HUNT into our hunting instead of just attacking and getting attacked.
Just an idea, feel free to crap all over it or add in your two creds ![]()
The main function of this lure should be to draw the creature away from it's herd/pack. It shouldn't initiate combat, or cause the creature to go aggro, or make it's buddies go aggro. The real SWG benefit, I think, should be to help you draw one creature that you can handle away from a group that would eat you for lunch.

Actually we have no idea whether GreenMarine's Lure Trap won't do just that. ![]()
He has described it as a ground deployed trap... So perhaps it will simply lurea crittertowards it, at which point you can do whatever you want.

If it is an agrressive creature I would expect it to attack.
"however, it will draw all creatures to it. I really hope I'm wrong."
It is possible for the code behind the trap to latch onto the nearest creature and pull it in.
But we have no way of knowing how GreenMarine will implement it yet. ![]()
I can see the lure being used to get those poor little baby animals away from the pack for CH's to tame. Might be a profitable side business too.
Also what would be cool is the flip side of that. Remeber in ANH when Obi-Wan made a Krayt Dragon noise to scare off the sand people. You should have calls that work as a way to scare critters (as well as some NPCs) off, could work like warning shot.
I am all for animal calls. I would rather see lures as an ability rather than a "trap"
They could be used to attract a targeted creature, or avert (scare) a targeted creature.
