Thread: Question about /rescue

Do I have to target the person I'm rescuing or just the creature he/she/it's fighting? And can I rescue my own droid or pet? I've tried a few times and it doesn't seem to aggro to me.

I'm a little disappointed in rescue, considering that taunt seems to work much better, or at least more frequently.

/rescue doesn't seem to work very often but to use it, target the person you want to rescue. I don't know what happens when the person is fighting more then one creature but I know it works. When it fails, you get a message at least to let you know you fail. So if you are not using it properly or if it doesn't work on pets, a good way to know is look for the message.

Rangers out there with the /rescue skill... I've got a question for you.

I had heard that you could use /rescue to engage players by "protecting" whatever they were fighting... even if they were in PvE.

In one of the recent patches they said they fixed the rescue "exploit" to let it only engage MOBs instead of other players.

I'm a little fuzzy on this and I have an application for the "rescue" skill that I'm not sure if it would work.

I run a player bounty system on the Naritus server... it's been a lot of fun so far... but one of the things that many of the marks want is to use bodyguards.

I'd like to see people with Ranger skills thrust into this role...

What I'd like to know is:

If Player A and Player B are dueling. And a Ranger comes and "/rescues" Player A.. can the Ranger engage Player B?

My confusion is if they made it so that you couldn't rescue MOBs... you can only rescue players... therefore not "forcing" PvP on anyone since they are already in PvP.

Mind you.. this is dueling and not faction based PvP.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.

This is a good question -- I haven't tested /rescue in ages and would love to hear from someone that actively uses it.

(It is my understanding that you would be unable to rescue a player engaged against another player, but like I said -- I haven't tested it.)

I tested this out a couple of days ago. I tried to rescue an overt in a TEF loop battle

It seemed that no matter how many times I tried to rescue, the attacker could never be distracted. It did take the cost HAM points, but just never succeeded.

Quick note, it did give me a TEF, and the little bast*** started shooting me after he cloned (but he was covert) So somehow it allowed me to be targeted by a covert player because I tried to rescue an overt that then proceeded to kill him. I could not inittiate combat though. Issues with the whole TEF thing need to be addressed!
