Hi fellas!

I just got my novice ranger (woot) and I'm curious as to which tree to start putting my XP in.

I've heard the camoflauge tree is good because it really helps you get around without being attacked by mobs.

What do you guys think? Is it worth it?

And how good are those cammo kits? Are they only usable on the planets they are listed for?

Thanks guys!

The camoflauge kits will be handy once several issues have been resolved.

You might want to hold off a couple weeks until after the next big patch before pursuing that course though.

In their current incarnation, most Rangers consider them ineffective and far too expensive.

It's probably wayfaring, I don't remember the name exactly, but from looking at the tree Camoflauge is the jist.

How useful well I have not put any points into it yet, unless it gets fixed I am not sure it ever will be.

Some useful Ranger Camo Hints from a master ranger:

1) Never try and sneak up on a Krayt. Your camo aint that good....

2) Apparently Kreetles have the best noses in the galaxy. For some reason they break my camo more than anything else...

For the most part, Mask scent is flawless for master rangers. Up the wayfaring line and go out exploring.

Concerning the wayfaring tree, the cammo kits work, and you can get closer to higher level aggros, but they tend to break more often then not. Also, just to tack this on, why are there no terrain negotiation bonuses at the master level?

An even better question to ask is... why do the Terrain Negotiation bonuses in wayfaring not seem to give me much of an edge over a master scout?

Anyway.. camo kits as they are now are not worth the time and effort. Maskscent works better and is free of resource restrictions (Lok Domesticated Meat? Yeah.... i have tons of that.... sure.)

I was really excited about it. I bought a large floral harvester, took up artisan surveying skills and found myself some Tatooinian Wild Oats (awip i think). Got the other components and had my Tatooine Camo Kit. Applied it to myself and a combat medic that was running around with me..... the kit was shattered by a Womp Rat City (now called Slum Rats).

Well cameo and mask scent appear to be broken. Mask scent used to work, but the "fixed" it when the introduced the cameo gear. Based upon my observations on Endor I no longer use maskscent or cameo. I was getting agro *much* more often when I had maskscent or cameo applied. So I no longer use maskscent and I very seldom get any agro. So they took a perfectly good working skill (maskscent) and broke it to where it was detrimental to use, and added a new non-functioning skill (cameo). Sigh...

I've only used conceal kits on Naboo as finding artisens on the harder planets to get the specific flora is pretty rare. But on Naboo the comoflauge skill / conceal kits work fine for me against NPC's (ie those damned annoying Maulers!). Enough so that I successfully pulled off a full reconnaissance mission of the Mauler Base south of Keren. This included walking into their camp, taking screen shots of the guards, walking into the house, standing next to the Mauler Master and his lackies, examining each enemy, and just generally enjoying being able to stand next to a red con'd Mauler without him even knowing I'm there!

That being said I climbed the Hunting/Tracking tree before Wayfairing for a number of reasons. I heard camoflauge was broken so wasn't that interested in it to start, terrain negotation didn't interest me as I was already stopping all the time to let the rest of the group catch up to me, I liked the increase in animal harvesting (more hides = more credits), and I really liked the tracking skill.

Just depends what you like to do I guess
