Thread: creature spawn frequency

Apparently, I'm not the only one who has explored the wilderness for over an hour without seeing a single creature. But I can understand the developers' desire to limit the spawn count to avoid lag for other players.

So, rather than placing random spawn points all across the map, could they just add triggers? I've toyed with the Toolset for Neverwinter Nights and they had it so a developer could highlight areas of the game that would trigger a spawn if a player entered that area. The Star Wars planets are immeasurably larger than the places in NWN, but could they just draw lines spanning say 500-3000m that could trigger spawns if a player crossed them? In this way, there would exist no excess creatures to create lag, but rangers who enjoy exploring could be ensured they didn't waste an hour travelling (and be discouraged from exploring in the future).

The spawn points are not in the game space until a player moves near the area.

The more people moving in a particular area increases the frequency of a spawn point appearing.

What is currently happening is that a single person is not generating sufficient spawn points to keepthem happy.

This was my Pet Peeve during the last Top 5 report.

Hopefully they will resolve the issue soon.
