Thread: Hang on to your flora
"Some of the Rangers in test center say that some flora is still listed as a requirement for camo kits"
Yes, the Dantooine Berry Fruit is still part of the Dantooine Camo Kit. ![]()
I have spoken with GreenMarine directly about this, and it should be resolved shortly. ![]()
Now giving away Corellian oats, just ask. Rangers only. Lowers your cholesterol, keeps ya regular, good for what ails ya. Add raisins, make good cookies. Stick to your ribs (now don't that sound gross? Oatmeal all over ya..not even kinky)
Sigh, the same day I get a flora farm they announce it goes away. Hmmm, lets see if this is a trend. Should I announce I found a real easy way to get Lokian Domestic Meat??

up to his figurative buttocks in oats, sorta kinda, not really

I'd love to know what kind of coding practices or development tools allow them to continue to miss simple stuff like this. I don't like to impugn other people's abililties, but these sort of lame-brained oversights are not exactly confidence inspiring. I mean, doesall of the code checkinghave to fall into the laps of the paying customer base? Bugs are one thing, this is just sloppiness.
I think the devs may be overwhelmed. While I'm sure it won't happen in my game-lifetime, I think SOE needs to hire a few programmers to spread the load or something.
Again I say:
I can't believe they made the Rangers a Generic Character by removing these required ingrediants!
Now just any ole ranger can make Camo-Kits!
So much for being an Elite Profession:smiley sad:

I believe that's the point of the patch being on Test Center first, and even after it goes live more bugs will be found simply as a matter of scale (as Vass put it).
You could read through a piece of code 10 times and still miss errors in it, that's why a major part of software production is testing. Only through repeated testing can you find if there are errors you missed by looking at the code. They do in-house testing to get rid of the major bugs (stability usually), then it goes to Test Center so that there's many more people testing it, which allows them to find more bugs. Even after all that once the patch goes live there's over 200k players now using that code instead of only 20k (or however many are on TC).
No matter how much you test, and re-test, you will never find all of the bugs until your code reaches it's main user base. They could keep a patch on TC for a month, but we'd still find bugs when it went live.

Well, Novice Rangers can't make any. We have to have the correct certs for different planets. The planets where they may most be useful are three bricks up the tree.
I mean, any ole Ranger could make them before, so long as they had the cert and the materials. Are you saying you're disappointed that Rangers without harvesters can make them now?
For my money, I'm happy to have my 10 medium mineral extractors yanking 700,000cr worth of ore outta the ground on a weekly basis. How much could you make selling materials for camo kits on a weekly basis? 20,000?

Uh, what? Any ole ranger could make Camo Kits before, removing flora doesn't really change much. So now rangers don't have to survey for their own flora or go out and buy it, that only affects the artisans (or artisan skills if you're doing your own surveying/sampling) not the rangers.

Forgot to put in my first post in this thread that I agree that they made a sloppy mistake. Making a mathematical error, or even just a typo is one thing, but to forget to change one of the schematics is a bit sloppy and I'll agree with you on that
No matter how much you test, and re-test, you will never find all of the bugs until your code reaches it's main user base.
The problem is that this is not a bug, per se. It is not the result of unexpected circumstances affecting code objects in an unintended way.
It was an oversight, plain and simple. Someone forgot to set camokit_Dantooine_resourceBerry = 0. That's not a bug, that's sloppiness, probably due to having too many fixes to make and not enough programmers.
It's not a big deal, it never even made it live. But it just shows the level of attention to detail that the coders can handle with their workload. If even the most basic things aren't checked before hitting Test Server, it's no wonder I haven't been able to access my Tatooine Sunburns for 3 weeks.
You still need the schematics for specific planets, which you don't get until you're higher up the trees.
The way camo kits are made hasn't been changed, excepting oneingredient. ~J
