Thread: To the next Former Ranger
Though we hate see any Ranger leave the group, you could do us all a big favor while you're on your way out.
As you dissolve your Tracking line, could you tell us if there is any difference between how well you take down a white conned creature from Tracking 4 to zero Tracking?
This makes for a more pure test because as people are climbing up the Tracking tree, most all are also moving up their chosen weapon trees so that's not a very good way to measure progress.
We'd really like to see improvement in how we do in PvE and some testimonies of how useful or useless the Creature to Hit bonus (as is) might serve us well. The CtH bonus needs work, especially because melee people get nothing from it, but a couple former Rangers reporting back that killing a creature with 0 tracking made no difference at all than when having tracking 4, that might be something we can pass along to the devs. If it is harder to kill a creature, than we know we should focus on a melee CtH, and a damage bonus, and leave CtH as is.
But again, I'd never encourage anyone to give up Rangerhood, but if you're mind is set, would you mind taking down a couple creatures in the process? It would be a great goodbye gift to many of us. ![]()
Thanks!
I applaud your effort and suggestions, but the theory has some current possible issuesin it.
It is gonna be hard to Compare apples (Pistol), plum's (Carb) and lemon's (Rifle) to each other in the terms of how it effects our ability to hit creatures.
Not to mention BH hybird/Rangers, or BH/pistol Dabbler /Rangers. ditto for carb bh/carb/ranger combo's
Currently there are accuracy issues in all Primary ranged combat professions.
I would be more then willing to run test comparsions, but I would need another Ranger with exactly the same lvl of rifleman with very similar weapons to test.
It is a great concept, but your gonna get novice pistollers that can hit more often then carbs or rifleman, or rifleman that hit better then pistol or carbs UNDER certian conditions and Ranges.
Now just what exactly is creature to hit bonus? anyone?
Sorry I know these comments aren't extacly what you ment by as you unlearn tracking , offer some feed back. etc
Just a heads up that things might get scewed and the amount of data offered up would often conflict with to hit bonus due to weapon profession.
Good Luck
But does it really matter Gunnar if they're fighting with a gun, bazooka, or broomstick if the test is contained to the one weapon that particular Ranger is using without gain in weapon skill?
Yes, different weapons will yield different results when compared to one another, but If I go out this morning and kill a creature with my pistol, then drop my tracking and kill another of the same creature and find the difficulty is no harder than with tracking 4, doesn't that prove something? If the white conned creature is now yellow, than that right there tells us something.
I'm pretty sure Creature to Hit is frequency of hitting without missing and maybe it does work, but just how well is the question.
Does that make a little more sense? ![]()
Ya your point makes sense.
I'm thinking that some people might not see a differance at all or some might notice a Huge differance.
I can't hit anything anyways hehe so I need all the help I can get. ![]()
Good Points
I'm thinking that some people might not see a differance at all or some might notice a Huge differance.
That is a real good point and I'd be curious to know if that would happen. Then we'd know the Creature to Hit bonus is really wonked because it's having different results with different weapons.
