Thread: Can't tell the difference between mask scent or camo?

Well, apparantly, the game can't either. I've come to a bit of a conclusion:

After using one camo kit on a planet, until you change planets (or die, presumably) using /maskscent will have the same effect as another camo kit. NPC's will make checks on you, and you get the 2/3 experience when they or creatures do.

At first, I thought I was seeing things, but when I had a group of Valarian's thugs spawn on top of me and I came out of it with 80 XP knowing I only had my scent masked, it kinda slaps you in the face.

Someone else want to test this? I've not had much problem with conceal breaking since I'm not high up in the tree yet, so I don't know if it is still only as effective as normal concealing. In any case, if it works for everyone, it's something that has to be fixed.

If it does't work... I'm getting psychiatric help

You're not crazy, at least not in this instance , the game does confuse Conceal and Maskscent sometimes.

Usually if you apply maskscent right after conceal drops, mask will function as conceal for the remainder of your play session.

What I don't understand is how you actually concealed against a Valarian... In all of my tests Valarians have never checked against my conceal, they (reds)attack me 100% of the time.

Maybe it goes back to camouflage losing effectiveness as you gain levels in Wayfaring. I notice that you are at Wayfaring II, while I am at Master Ranger and cannot conceal against most NPC's at all, even while prone and motionless...

Yes I have noticed this as well. If you use conceal, and then apply Maskscent after it has worn off then you are still effectively concealed.

As far as, concealing against NPC's, Valarians and such, I have successfully concealed against Valarians, Jabba's Thugs, and Dune Stalkers. Now the Reds have always been able to attack me when I am at max range. If I run into their range then nothing, but if I skirt their range then after a few seconds they attack, much like bocatts. This has been consistent since the camo kits came out, and I have progressed from Wayfaring 1 through 4 in this time. Not sure what the extra 20 camo (I think it was 20 camo) at Master is doing to cause the headaches they are experiencing, but Nraas should be able to get us through this. I think I spelled Nraas correctly.

Unfortunately, we can rule out the per-planet part... at least in one case that I saw tonight. I hunted yavin for 12 hours today and used camo once i had all the supplies gathered. When I was done I came back home to corellia, and lo and behold on the way to my house I try to 'cycle' my mask - 'im concealed' - i didnt even have camo kits for corellia on me - lol...

I suspect the only fix to uncycle the camo is a logout or a broken camo mask. When a creature breaks my camo - i can then go about masking and cycling masking freely - but if my camo ran out naturally - your stuck...

Alrighty then.

I have testedthis issueon Test Center and it is still not fixed.

The issue with /maskscent reinstating /conceal after traveling has been escalated to GreenMarine.
