Thread: Simple way to engage Rangers in PvP

I don't PvP.. I hate chest-beaters and whiners and if I want combat I go to Day of Defeat or something similar. Anyway... my buddy who does PvP was telling me how enemy bases are blown up.

Apparently during a vulnerability time these terminal's will pop out of the wall and they need a BE, a Commando, a Slicer, and a few other professions to hack and blow the thing up.

Add Ranger to the list.

Nah, we are spozed to be able to see and disarm mine fields. Which is a pretty cool thing to be able to do in many circumstances.

Worked for about a day, then went buggy. Or at least it quit working for me, after I so nicely wandered off with more than a few mines.

Wonder if we can get this fixed?

And I honestly don't see whata BE can do in a base, the smuggler I understand, the commando sure. The vagaries of the game.

Apparently the BE has to do some sort of DNA sequencing as that is what is the encrypted lock is composed of.

If mine disarming worked, we'd be great in PvP as recon troops. Run up and disarm the mines ahead of time, clearing the path for the main attack later.

Any tips for disarming mines because I suck at it the only ones I have seen are by an enemy imp's city base and well the mines are close to a covert detector so even trying to be sneaky is out of the question, even in a big raid I can't really run down in the confusion because well I was already being shot at when I was behind the front lines lol.

I've never gotten the mine thing to work, but the way JB is explaining it, it sounds like they might have disabled it for the griefing potential. I mean, don''t mines cost FP? If so, then I can only imagine the screaming that would ensue if Rangers were able to disarm and walk off with them.

Then again, I don't really know much about mines, and I'm not much of a Ranger anymore. I just like to hang out here while I'm at work.

Ya know...

I doknow that evading mines, while walking through a minefield, is keyed to a player's Trapping skill.

But I can't for the life of me recall if disarming the minefield itself is improved with Trapping skill.

Anyone have a solid reference to back that claim up? Or are we smoking from the same pipe here?

I have recieved an on-screenmessage stating that I am entering a mine field but have always assumed that all players recieved it - perhaps not. A bit like the one telling me that I'm being stalked by a whatever....

I've seen any indication that I can actually do anything about this other then reverse..!

Also, would mine explode if I pass over it on a speeder..?

This game really needs a decent manual you know...?
