Just curious as to why politicians have as much of a chance at catching fish as a Wilderness Survival Specialist?
I mean you'd think we would have learned something in our training...

Not to be too funny, but maybe because politicians dont do anything at all, except fish? oh and steal your money? But i agree with you, the skill tree should allow for us to be better fisherman, and I could be wrong but didnt they just change it to where fishing gives survival XP. Perhaps that means somebody is looking at the Ranger profession.

Giving rangers the ability to fish well would make us too powerful. Imagine all these good fisherman running around able to gather 100 fish meat in a single hour *shiver*, would totally destroy the economy

Yep.
Ok the other day I did this experiment...
I have a .93 quality pole, a .50 quality pole and a .15 quality pole. I was bored and I thought I will catch 50 fish and record the time.
With the .15 quality pole I spent about 2 hours and caught close to 30 fish
With the .50 quality pole I spent about 2 hours and caught about 42 fish
With the .93 quality pole I spent about 1.5 hours and caught 50 fish
This is not a scientific experiment...there is undoubtedly a lot of variables that im probably missing
I used insect bait because that seems not to go soggy as quickly
The fishing game was never really intended to be a scout/ ranger thing, it was just a minigame that the devs put in. Unfortunately us being hunters and purveyors of fine meats...it makes sense that we would be better at it.

BUT, the devs did make fish a requirement for some schematics, and in doing so took away fishings' "mini-game" status. BUt I do agree that we should be better at it (to bad I hate fishing in RL and in the game).

You would not say that if you were a bio engineer with fish as a needed material in a highly desirable schematic.

This has always bothered me as well.
I am trying to get the fishing pole schematic added as a Scout craftable item in the wilderness survival tree - perhaps as a Master Scout perk, and I really would love to see Rangers get a fishing bonus as well. I believe this is on N'Raas' list.

A commando or some such class should be an awesome fisherman, hold greane, pull pin, throw pin erm, grenade, net dead fish, none of this bait crap!!
