Hi all, I'm currently working my way up to Master Ranger, to help me in my hunts, I'm also taking Rifleman, for the ranged Mind Bleeds and Swordsman for the melee Mind Bleeds, making a total of 4 bleeds I can put on a creature/npc. However, it is said that patch 8 will remove Mind altogether as a viable target. If that turns out true then I'll need to switch to some other combat profession(s) to help me in my journey to Master Ranger.
What other profession or combination of professions has helped you guys?

TKA is always good. Good damage outputm BUT no choice in damage types. If somthing is resistant, you are SOL. You can buff yourself and heal your owns wounds and remove poison and disease.

Ive been a pistoleer, CH, tkm and swordsman.
so far, out of all of them, I find that Swordsman fits my style of play best. I enjoy the up close and personal aspect of the hunt and I have a great time.
However, im soon to pursue pike, fencer, rifleman and carbineer....not a hologrind, just an exploration of different tactics to complement ranger.
Im not very convinced that the mind target will be taken away. The uproar in the rifleman and swordsman forums have been angry and vociferous. If it happens, then I will adapt and overcome by changing my tactics.
In terms of gameplay, I like the melee defenses offered in the melee professions as it seems to help immensly with my hunting.

I find Rifleman to be a nice choice. You geta nice range of damage types (energy, stun, cold, and [recently added] acid). You can do a good amount of damage. And the mind specific damage is quite nice for PvP (PvE it rarely matters--you'd probably be better off with health specific damage as it is hit most often with normal shots). And you get the mighty /concealshot. But that's just me (I like to fight unarmored and unbuffed and that really rules out melee professions). If you don't mind armor and buffs, TKM is quite nice as well. I especially liked the meditate line. But, to take on rancors and such, I found that I needed armor. Not such a big deal but annoying.

I have always felt that Rifleman seemed like the natural choice to go wth Ranger. I have also tried Ranger+Fencer and Ranger+Pistoleer, but those combinations just didn't feel right. (Note that I did not master either of the combat professions.)
So I switched to Rifleman. The slow rate of fire drove me nuts at times, but I had been used to firing specials at the speed cap as an Expert BH. (/concealshot at Rifle 0101 vs. /torsoshot or /firelightningsingle2 at BH 0044... "the waiting is the hardest part")
However, from what I have gathered from the boards, Rifleman is not to be dabbled in. If that is the case, then MR/MR leaves you with only 18 points. For me, I will keep Novice Medic and Ranged Support 1 (Aim and threaten), and have 1 point left over.
Stupid leftover point...
