Thread: Do they care if Ranger is going down the pan?
Jedi scream and shout.... they get their lightsabers fixed so they don't decay... they get perma death changed...
Bounty Hunters scream and shout... they can now track Jedi....
They did say they were giving us modular camps... I remember Thunderhearts comments about getting it in in a timely manner but now it seems it's been pushed aside....
Perhaps we need to scream and shout more so they think there is more of us!

It strikes me as the devs don't care if Ranger's are not getting any love or fixes... In my opinion it's because there are not enough of us to scream and shout.

We have a skill that work without bugs: TN
We have skills that work, but are bugged: Traps, areatrack, camps, camo, maskscent
We have skills that work but could be sooo much better: Traps, areatrack, camps, camo, rescue, harvesting, maskscent, TN (actually, all of our skills)
We have skills that work but some find too expensive in skill points to be really useful: traps, rescue, camo, camps
compare this with other professions like the DE who has been pretty much useless from day 1, I think that it is time for them to get their love. Do I want rangers to get theirs? Of course I do. Most of our skills work, yet have bugs or are severely under powered (TH's words, not mine). I dont think that Rangers are going down the pan, nor do I think that we are broken or useless. We will get our love, we will get our time in the sun, the only issue is when.
I do very well for myself in terms of enjoyment, credits, hunting gloating rights and other intangibles.
IMHO, we Rangers now get a C-/ D+ in terms of functionality, and relative skillpoint vs. perk status. With the outdoorsman (if implemented) I think that that would give us an A-. We are useful, somewhat effective, yet sorely under-skilled for the amount of points that we have to spend to attain master status.
(I am trying to be optomistic...sometimes its hard though)
I think you have hit the nail right on the head there.
I find myself toying daily with... If I drop ranger I could use the skill points on something which is more useful. But then I think, I love being a Ranger and I'm proud to have mastered Ranger and don't think I'd ever drop it but but but... you know....
I have to admit, I see the irony here. It really does seem those who whine and scream get what they want fasterthan those whodiscuss and offer very well put together suggestions in a calm manner.
The ranger board and those concerned with the ranger profession seem the most mature, disciplined, and well organized in the entire game on any galaxy.
However, we're also getting the least attention.
"The Outdoorsman" is a carefully made proposal which almost our entire community agrees upon - yet even with such a document layed out before them - we're seeing nothing done (even token additions/fixes) with any of the recent patches.
I sincerely hope the DEVs will wake up and smell the meat a'cookin' here before it rots and we join the ranks of the 'scream and shout before the next patch comes out' crowd.
I did the exact same thing. I dropped Master Ranger in January, and continued to drop all of my scout skills to go explore other professions. (ie: hologrind...oops) I found myself missing scout and ranger and all the fun I had. I felt naked without the title of Master Ranger that I had since Sep or November last year.
For me, I would rather have ranger and explore different weapon professions than not have ranger at all and feel like im missing something. I re-mastered ranger as fast as possible and Im happy again

I did the same. I tried [=mastered] 12 different professions (Scout / Ranger / Creature Handler / Rifleman / Medic / Combat Medic / Marksman / Smuggler / Artisan / Entertainer / Brawler / Teras Kasi Artist) but decided I liked Ranger the best (and I don't really grind--I actually played the professions as if I was going to keep them. I even did Entertainer while at the keyboard). I remastered it one day after finishing TKA. And I still love it. But we need help.
As for Smugglers, they have 2 really nice trees. No one can say that Slicing is not useful. I'm not even going to go there. As for Dirty Fighting, I hated giving it up. Feign Death was amazing for surviving when you screwed up. Lowblow was a really nice ranged knockdown. Panic Shot worked amazingly well with Lowblow (before the recent nerf--now it's more of a survival tool with a lowblow/panic shot/peace/run). And Last Ditch did amazing amounts of damage and added several status effects. And I only had Novice Pistoleer through all of this (because I had the skill points and thought the extra bonuses were worth it). I will admit that spices are almost completely worthless now because of the chef revamp (muon can still help in desperate situations or when trying to maximize an entertainer buff). And underworld wasn't the most useful skill tree (I liked the skills but underworld really does need help--at the very least they should up the scanning rate).
DE really did need help and they are getting it now. Smugglers, though, are probably better off than we are right now. And they will almost certainly be getting a little something in the combat upgrades. I wasn't a smuggler for long (only a bit over aweek) but they do have a lot more useful skills than we do. Although they also have a lot less useful skills than we do.

That was me that said that. I suppose it is speculation, but that was what NRaas got out of the devs a few months ago.

i think i read in another post that ranger are waiting behind de and smuggler. If this is true then i dont see why we are behind smuggler. From where i stand they seem to have a lot more useful skills than a ranger, but granted ive never been a smuggler. And i dont think it would take much to make the ranger comunity happy. I dont need to see every ranger problem fixed. Hell, just pick one line in the tree and improve it. I would much rather see a little progress every month or so than you'll get a lot of luv in the indefinite future.
