I used to run a small MUD (text-based multiplayer games, like SWG for your grandmother: In fairness at the time it was pretty cutting edge, but I digress,) and one of the problems people constantly encountered was the problem of retrieving your corpse. The idea being that if you died, you were probably killed by something that was able to take care of you when fully armed and armored, and your chances of making it through that same group now that you're naked and unarmed are pretty slim.

My point being that with rangers' camouflage and presumed ability to cover long distances, this is probably an area where Rangers can make a fairly unique contribution to the game, going out into the wild and getting people's bodiesback for them. Maybe there could be some developement in that direction as well as the hunting that's being worked on, like being able to get missions from players for a corpse retrieval.Of course this presumes that the unlimited insurance eventually gets repealed and people start leaving bodies around again.

- Yes, the longer they wait on repealing this, the harder it will be for the new people

- I mean, can you imagine all the newbies out there who have never had to go on a corpse run in this game?

- Man,they are in for a surprise when it gets reinstated

Also, don't forget about the carelessness that has certainly developed because of the current and temporary no corpse situation.

People will be needing their corpses left and right for about a week or two until they develop a new style of play to account for death being turned back on.

We should advertise this service as soon as it becomes relevant.

Good idea.

Way ahead of the game on this. I've already asked everyone in my PA to grant me perms for their corpse. Sure, it may take a few trips to retrieve all the bodies after a horrible fight, but I have a feeling they will be forever in my debt for this one.

I do not like corpse runs. I hope they never put this back in.

I have never found corpse runs to add any pleasure to my game

Not having to worry about corpse runs has not changed my game either, so putting them back is not going to change my playstyle, which seems to be the main argument for having them.

Bah... pulling 3-4 corpses at a time out of Lower Guk & later in Kael was some of the greatest fun I had in EQ... of course they weren't my corpses.

I have acutally been hoping for corpse retreivals to come back as this was a big part of my enjoyment of the game as ranger... I died 3km from the nearest cloning center and now I have to stealthily make my way back to my body (all the while having 130BF and 1/4 HAM wounds). Guess I'm going to have to setup camp over here... maybe the repelling feature of my HTFB (I posted one on the bazaar here for wayyyy too much money so it wouldn't sell along with one at asuper low price for that other poorsoul- much cheaper than insurance) will be enough to drive those agressive mobs from my corpse. Don't get me wrong, there are times when I'm at 0,0 and I get a call to join myfriends ("Hurry up, we're on our way to Dathomir") and love being able to just say "be right there, just have to find a killer" and pick a direction and look for the nearest aggressive creature that I know will DB on the first shot, then say "guys, I need a 12 second stop in Coronet so I can get my BF healed, the docs can take care of meon the run but this BF is horrid"

That will definately be a service we should advertise. I can't wait to be sitting a 0,0 and all of a sudden get a /tell from nowhere "hey, I'll pay you a kto bring me my corpse, please" Of course, I have no idea if that person has 1000 on them and will do it for free for almost anyone anyway aslong as they ask nicely(unless it's that smuggler who took off with my friends guns never to be seen again, I'll tell him yes and drag his corpse to the middle of the nightsister cave and tell him where he can pick it up). Oh wait, is drag corpse a medic only skill? Might have to find a medic to apply conceal to and escort them or chance my skill-tree around from what I had planned, or forget that opportunity.

With just maskscent I can run right through any red no problem, so corpse retrieval won't be some exciting stealth mission or anything. It'll just be pressing auto run and going afk in the direction you need to get the corpse. Also if they do add this and one of rangers roles becomes corpse retrieval you all better charge like 20k for a corpse retrieval so that becomes the norm cause I know i'm not spending my time for 1k to get a corpse for someone unless it's a friend.

I am working under the assumption that this is going to change somewhat and you will be able to draw agro at some point...for sure you won't be able to conceal against the mobs, since your conceal kit is in your corpse unless you insured one and/or have one in the bank or can buy one on the bazaar, otherwise someone please tell me what good conceal is going to do against creatures. And that statement is untrue on Lok, as 90% of the time that I'm killed there is by 10k ham mercenaries (how a humanoid gets a 10k ham is beyond me).

I still think that corpse retrieval, though admittedly annoying, is the only way to go... And I played on UO, where you had about 2-10 minutes (later on.. used to be a straight 2 minutes.. Oh, how they made that game too easy..) rather than the several hours available in EQ. Mind you, you also usually got resurrected somewhere in the area, (if at all.. I've run out my 10 minutes a time or two because I got killed in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the day and could find neither a wandering healer or a player who could rez) so 2-10 minutes wasn't totally out of the question like it would be in EQ.

I'll admit I'd have to readjust my playstyle if they were to bring this back (which they won't, due to all of the whiners who say that this is too hard) but I wouldn't mind a bit.

In the eary days of the game, 2 friends and I spent 2 days on Endor trying to get our corpses back. Inevitably, one of us would die running interference for the corpse retriever. It was a vicious cycle. That was back when Endor was challenging and the only person who stood a chance there was a CH.
