Thread: The In Concept Forum has a call for Ranger comments.
I would urge all the regular community members to make their presence known on the thread... I wouldn't want the "other" forum members dictating our future.
You don't need to laud the Outdoorsman approach (though if you feel like doing it, it wouldn't hurt), but I would like to ensure that everyone in the community makestheir voice heard. ![]()
thanks Calc for the heads up...
oh..one more vote for the outdoorsman
Wow! I haven't stopped by these boards for a while.I usually play Rangers in other games but overlooked them in this game because of the "space" feel of the game. After working towards Bounty Hunter, I realized how much fun working through Scout and parts of Ranger was(yes I ENJOYED working through the Scout class haha). Well, I wasn't about to scratch the BH profession, it took too long to get there. So I decided to make a sooner-or-later-to-be Ranger character today, and I can't wait.
Looking over the Outdoorsman, I love most of it. The Ranger in this game, to me, just seems like more Scout bonuses. Okay, you get Conceal. Just a different Mask Scent if you ask me. Does anyone really use Rescue? And Track. Okay, you gain a very basic Ranger skill that all Rangers in all games have, and I feel Scouts in this game should have. Now let's make Track better. Traps.... the only area that I was really disappointed with were the Traps. First, they have little use (to me). Second, you can't use them on NPC's/PC's. Come on, what is stopping me from throwing a Wire Mesh Trap at a Stormtrooper? And why again wouldn't it (feasibly) effect him? Now, if they improved the Traps, and made them more useful in combat, then I'm sold all-around.
I REALLY love the Harvesting idea. I agree that a Master Ranger would never let the other resources go to waste. First they skin them(harvest hide), then they carve the meat from the bones(harvest meat). Then theytake the bones along in case they come in handy(harvest bone). It just makes sense to me, that a high-level Ranger(and only that) would be able to harvest all three.
Remember everyone... If you haven't posted your views on the In Concept thread.
Whether youbackcreature-centric, willderness-centric, or paramilitary, the developers are looking for your opinions on the future of the profession in a combat role.
The faster we convince them one way or the other, the faster they can start working on changes in that direction.
And come on, we are lagging behind the Bounty Hunter thread. Can't let them beat us, can we? ![]()

Let's keep it orderly...One post per player will make the developer's reading easier. ![]()
Good Hunting.

As it happens I decided to "play" with it last night for the first time. Bit of a giggle really as I didnt know that it came with an animation of me waving my arms about. All that was missing was a chat bubble with "You-hoo, over here ya' big beastie" in it.
As an actual skill, its dubious to say the least. I'm not a class that can really handle big stuff bearing down on me, I feel that this should be a Squad Leader skill really. Ranger should perhaps be able to do something to make a beastie back off or at least pause, not bring it down on me. It has been suggsted before that something like OB1's immertation of a screaming beast to scare of the Tuskan Raiders would be more appropiate for us. This I agree with.
But, for those that have never actually had a go with /rescue, try it, its a giggle if nothing else.
But half the people in the game are BH (either dabble or master)? How can we hope to keep up? I would like to see that demographics (professions) list updated and see how the ratios compare now....
