I used to be a high level Ranger - I was darn close to master, when the realization suddenly came to me that it wasn't worth the points I was investing. Aside from Tracking (which in itself is limited because of spawn rates/etc), their skills are largely academic and completely unnecessary. Why bother with Camo Kits (with questionable effectiveness anyway), when you're a TKM, or Master Rifleman, Combat Medic, or Commando, and you can just annihilate everything in your path on your way to your desination? Might as well get some easy xp while you're on the road, right? Ranger traps are a joke, not half as useful as the Scout traps, and their tents are just bigger versions of more of the same.
What happened to the new trap ideas the Ranger Dev proposed six months ago? The various traps and new tent ideas?
I believe - more than anything - that:
*The Ranger profession should be the profession chosen by people who enjoy travelling and the wilderness more than anything else.*
I love just running around. Get me as far away from town as possible. Give me a new horizon, a new hill, a new valley, and I'm happy.Unfortunately, Ranger doesn't make this ideal any easier or more desirable.
*Rangers need ways to interact with the environment.*
Rangers need skills that make them exceptional wilderness characters. Not justa semi-useful way to sneak past critters, not just huge tentswith stations (that are made obsolete by droids anyway), and not just some bogus hand grenades.
Give them new and interesting ways to play, make them the choice for players seeking a whole new outdoors experience!

You'll find quite a few other posts on this same exact topic in this forum. They keep getting posted every so often (right now there is a huge storm of them going around). Hopefully we'll actually get some of this stuff soon.
