Thread: Areatrack Issues?
You can only track what has spawned. Different creatures spawn at different ranges, or at least I think so. Some are semi permanent spawns, meaning they are there regardless if people are around; other lairs only spawn if someone has gone bye. Sorta why there are tons of creatures around populated areas, and few in the boonies.
To gauge distance, cheat a wee bit. Use the waypoint monitors and get em on your screen (control O, misc, you will see em). Waypoint where you were, then take off. It tells you how far you have gone. Not that this is a problem usually, 500m is 25 secs on a swoop. I use the time guesstimate, and turn my radar up.
I was using areatrack exclusively to find peko pekos and gularama last week. Worked fine, to the tune of 500k worth of hides. Just know that being in the mountains messes it up.

Thanks JB, good answer.
Is there anything in development for tracking?
We have bugs/changes in the State of the Profession, and there is a section on tracking in the Outdoorsman Proposal. Also, I expect it will be a hot issue in our Top 5 list, once we get one.....It is already an issue on the "Top Issues" thread.
