Yesterday i was out with my sword/doc killing rancors and harvesting its meat just for fun with my 0010 scout'ness

I noticed the meat was quite good and found out the price on it wasnt bad at all, but as i had a bad experience trying to get a harvester droid to work for several hours to no luck (barely harvested more than me, but was 500 meters away from me 95% of the time) id rather get the harvesting skills up.

Ive made an alt but i dont know if i want to go all the way to master ranger, since i dont think ill be using much else of what rangers can do, camps really seem like a RP thing (and there ends my knowledge on what a ranger does )

So i was thinking of getting TKM, ranger 0040, medic 4400 and 18 SP to spare, this leaves me with 90 creature harvesting instead of 100, but the ability to kill most critters in the game and heal myself at a reasonable rate as well (and with my main being a sword/doc ive got the buffing if thats needed)

So what im really wondering about is how much difference does the last 10 points of harvesting mean ? And is there any other nice ranger abilities that is nice to have ? I seldom mass pvp, and when i do its with the guild and we have dedicated squad leaders and trackers and such, and i wont take a ranger to duels (as i have a nice PVPer already) so i dont really think ill need any of the tracking-stuff. I also never leave home without buffs and food + drinks, so the camuflage ablilities propably wont be needed as well.

What do you think ? Any input appreciated !

Well, to be honest if you want just a "good" harvesting do this.

Get either Hunting 4 in scout, or master scout. Get a droid with all 6 modules for harvesting. I know I know they are a pain. I'll go into that. Then use vaghash which is a harvest increase food. This will yeild quite a bit.

Or for pretty much the best harvesting do the same above but get ranger and go up the Field BioScience line to 4.

For the droids, you need to have a corpse targetted. Do not change your target until you see the droid start to move to towards it after giving the command. For the commands, they will not take spatial macros. So either just type the command, or make a /tellpet macro. You first have to set the command on the droid. Pull it out, target it and use radial menu. Choose the trapping option and I think its something like "set command" or some such. Then either spatial type what you want, or use /tellpet. The droid will only go after a corpse, and if you change targets before it starts to move out it won't move.

If you area really opposed to droids, then go master scout, novice ranger, and just do Feild BioScience 4 in Ranger, and use Vaghash.
