I am going Master Ranger but what combat profession should I pick? I was thinking Master Swordsman? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My character is a Trandoshan because of the +10 creature harvesting bonus.

I asked this question too, and from the answers I got and the threads, I pretty much gathered that the best combat profession to compliment Ranger is the combat profession that you are most proficient with. Its like asking what combat profession best compliments an Artisan or Doctor. It doesn't seem to me that it really matters. However, most tend to be Riflemen/Riflewomen, but I have seen a lot ofRangers that doTKM, Fencer, Swords, and even a few pistoleer's. I personally am switching from Master TK/Master Commando to Master Pistoleer/Master Ranger. Why? Cause I think it will be fun.

Just my two creds.

The best advice is do what you have fun doing.

If you like high dmg, decent protection and being in the furious pace of the center of battle, do swordsman or pike.

Fencer and TKA are also highly effective for melee... I did fencer, and it wasnt my cup of tea.. but the defenses were quite nice.

If you prefer to be in the action but supporting your melee companions, pistols/ carbines are for you.

If you want to be a lone sniper away from the danger of battle, taking down critters and NPC's with relative impunity, go rifleman.

Remember, your weapon is only how you acomplish your goal of being a ranger, there is no "best class" to go with it.

I'm currently swordsman which is great fun dishing out a lot of damage, and looking quite cool

but very limited in the types of damage you can deal out - kinetic and blast only.

Pistoleer or carbineer would be good, you can use your traps to the best advantage - stop the creature and then stand back and deal whatever damage type the poor beastie is most vulnerable to.

If you are going to solo hunt a lot, TK might be a good bet for getting rid of poisons and diseases ....

but as people have already said - whatever you most enjoy doing

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

Half the ladies I know in SW:G use pointy sticks. Sadly, I did not clarify that (sorry). Is it like the "I want a pony" thing, SW version? hehe, maybe ...
