I'm needing some advice.... i'm a rifleman/ranger now and i'm just curious what everyone would recommend. I'm definately going master rifleman but i'm unsure about master ranger.... its either master ranger or keep master marksman, really the only reason i would keep master marksman would be for the rifle speed it gives.

plz any advice or just thoughts on this let me know
thanks!

Honestly, it is hard to justify either. Master Rifleman is very fast; speed capped in most situations...don't get discouraged by the slow levelling throughout Rifleman...Master Rifleman is a whole new world. Master Marksman will only get you an extra +5 rilfe speed; that is a lot of skill points to spend to get +5 rifle speed.

Master Ranger does have a few nice perks to it. You get all the the skill related harvesting bonuses in the game (the only way to get more is to be a Trandoshan and/or use Veghash and Droids). You also get +10 to both Melee and Ranged Defense. This is also a large skill point investment with little return.

Veghash and Droids? Explain plse.

I am also considering the Master Rifleman/Ranger combo but so far in ranger all i want is to go up the tracking portion the rest doesn't seem too usefull or interesting.

Veghash is a Chef food that increases your harvesting mod and certaindroids can also give you a bonus to harvesting.

thnx you.

I have not been in a situation where camping has been necessary or needed, not only do few people even group but there are droids to assist in just about everything a camp does, wayfaring also seems pointless now that there are vehicles, and exactly how good are the ranger traps anyways? In short, does anyone have any arguments that could convince me to go the way of the Master Ranger?

oh and how exactly does the tracking work? Say I want to find a giant carrion spat how would i do that?

Tracking, you get a list of spawned creatures (and at higher skill levels npc's and other players) within a certain radius, at Master Ranger it is 500m, so 500m in any direction. I have a macro that unmounts me from my bike, tracks and remounts my bike. I ride 750-1000m then hit the macro, rinse and repeat. Is ok, works well in conjunction with missions, you can track on the way to your lair and then track to the next.

Most Master Rangers have mastered Rangerfor the title alone Oh and to show off our High Tech Field Base Kit camps Maybe you could do tracking and foraging only.

It is nice to be able to put up a HTFBK camp on Dathomir and sit in it, to heal minor wounds, safe in the knowledge that you can go afk for a leak or whatever.

If you are on Shadowfire, I would be glad to show you the benefits of master Ranger/master Rifleman. With this combo and my harvest droid, I am a hunting/harvesting machine. This is a very fun template if you like hunting and you can make a lot of credits selling your harvests. Yes it is a lot of skill points, and yes ranger profession has its bugs but if you enjoy hunting this is a lot of fun. I especially like taking on red level big game solo. Using conceal shot, mind shots, and mask scent you can take down big game without it ever knowing what hit it.

Send me a tell in game and I would be glad to help anyone thinking about this combo or even just thinking about staying Ranger. I would also be glad to show you how to become rich with the Ranger profession.

I was a ranger for awhile, and I have to say that I got more /tells when I had my master ranger tag up requesting I get resources for them, and most people knew to expect pretty high prices from a Master Ranger. It really is a money maker if you have the time (wooly hide from Yavinis awfulat like 9 units per kill).

Was this changed recently? I know we had often proposed starting it at 250m and scaling it to 1km or more at master, but I'd never heard that anything like that had been implemented. It seems to be 500m all the way up, but with less info at the lower levels.

Hmm, it might have, I can't remember what the range was prior to being a Master Ranger

you should know, +5 is a LOT, it makes you fire rifle 2 times as fast, (double damage), because of the strange way speed works, (100% - speedmod) makes a master rifleman shoot at 10% of the weapon speed (multiply with special delay) and a master marksman master rifleman at 5% of the weapon speed, with a T21 you won't cap with either of these configurations without tapes so you do exactly 2 times more damage
