I'm a newb, need some input. Thanks. Killing game for meat is a staple, but how do I know what meats are valuable? Any input is appreciated.

Go to your galaxie's trade forum.

Find whatever resource they are paying 50-100 CPU for.

Go to swg.allakhazam.com .

Search the bestiary for creatures with that resource.

Kill that source repeatedly.

Harvest lots of stuff.

That pretty much covers it.

Prices will probably vary depending on what server you are on, but you should be able to make good amount of money from:

Meats:

1) avian meat (for doctors)

2) herbivore (not sure who uses it, but still if its good, it sells)

3) insect meat (used by combat medics; I didn't hunt much for it yet, but probably it sells)

4) wild meat (if its good bio engineers might buy it)

5) from all of above avian meat is 100% success even if its not the best quality. I think that you shouldlook for Potential Energy and Overal Quality in meats: PE & OQ.Problem is I am new myself, so you want to check anything that i post here .

Hides:

1) wooly hide (armor! and clothes)

2) scaly and leathery hides are used in armor production too. In hides look for Overall quality and Shock reistance: OQ & SR. But again, don't forget to check this info.

Probably there are more things you can hunt for, but thats all i am hunting so far. Hope it helps. Sorry if something was not absolutely correct.

I have a couple of regular contacts that i get pretty good contracts from. When I am not doing that I will generally pick a high quality resource that is easy to get. get a ton of it. and hold on to it until that resource is low. and then WOW that good stuff that was easy to get just became gold.

But allin all, i would rather just walk around Endor.fish, find things that nobody else knows about. and generally just be mellow.

I sell meat to Fred. I sell it for comparable low prices, but since I rarely buy armor or anything like that (i have a single set) I don't really need much money. BUt selling resources or tracking for money are the most commonRanger monkey makers.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

I look at schematics for the differing professions that use meat, hide, and bone. I check out the qualities of various planets spawns and then I proceed to gather enough of each for a run of a thousand for the schematic and sell it to the profession that uses it. I never get over the amazement of a Master Tailor when I show up with 15k of wooly hide, or a Bio-Engineer when I show up with 20k of good herb meat.

I'd also like to add that, being a person of the outdoors, you probably aren't using all your lots. Consider taking up the mining profession. Set yourself up with a client that will put in requests as well as buy the resources.Next, get to know someone that can give you a WP to the good stuff in the ground. Finally, make the investment an get some large harvestors (diversify if you can). After that, your earning potential will increase because you are pulling resources while you hunt.

Rangers are also well equiped for mining because clearing out lairs is one of the few things that we do best.

Just an idea.

How to make 11million credits -

1. Never get paid once. Take a mission for your harvest, be it meat/bone/hide. Do the mission, get paid. Sell the harvest, get paid. While you were at the lair, you got milk +/or eggs - sell them. If you are at a mission, and targets of opportunity pop up, take and harvest.

2. Harvestors - get some. No artisan, no problem. Dump a wind generator in any old spot. When you have a couple thousand units of energy saved up, get some harvestors - small ones are ok. Take whatever is in the highest concentrations. Sell whatever you get for 2 cpu. This is also a real easy way to get metals and poly you will need later for traps/camps.Makes you money as you are not buying the stuff, you are selling it.

3. A word on avian. Sells for a ton of money, but it takes forever to get, unless you get lucky. Unless I am offered 100cpu, forget it, not worth the time.

4. Hides. Tailors need hides. Armorsmiths need hides. Tailors will buy any hides - big freaking hint. I seldom sell meats, but I have tons of hides.

5. Missions missions and missions. I love torturs. No DB, they drop 35 (meager) to 120 (bulls) hide/bone/meat. XP is good too. No DB. Easy missions, pay 6k or more. No DB. They don't kill you if incapped. Tailor girl wants hides, I run 5 sets of these. Easy 6-7k of hides in a half hour. Unbuffed, no armor. (10 x 6k=60k. 6k hide @ 2 cpu is another 12k = 72k for a half hour) Not great money, but it's no risk money if you are smart, and the only outlay was a weapon and traps I made.

6. Make friends. I have two sets of armor. Rarely used, but I have 2 sets. Good for PvE. Free, cuz I hooked up the armorsmith. Buffs - food type - free, as I got a lot of meat for the grinding chef to be. Clothes - I give hides away to my tailor - free clothes. Are you catching my drift. For what I would get 2cpu for (hides, crap meat) I am now getting tons of free stuff.

7. Buffs. Hmmm. I rarely doc buff. 12k a shot? no thanks. I will entertainer buff and food buff - even the short term effects last long enough to hit 6 missions. And I solo group to take on my newest favorite target at 11k a pop. 66k with no outlay. Yeah yeah, one mission about pays for the doc buff. Why bother? entertainer buff is free - food was free - FREE IS GOOD.

8. Do not skimp on weapons. Use examine. Be your own medic. Use a droid to help kill, not harvest. Time is money, the lesser time spent on a target means you can do more targets per hour = more money.

9. Run theme parks. Jabba and Valerian pay well. The faction parks got cool loot.

10. Finally, its not about the money. I don't do this 25% of my playing time. I take entire weekends to do other things. But I got asked last nite why I had the money - two words - financial security. Yeah, I remember running missions at 1000 creds to get enough money to train. Not anymore.

As a general rule, if there is decent Avian meat available, then harvest that, else if there is not, but there is decent Herbivor meat available then harvest that. Doctors purchase both. In the time I have been doing this on Chimaera I have seen Aviansell normally for 100-150cpu and once 250cpu and Herbivor for 40-60 cpu.

Find someone advertising on the forums, hunt some of the required resource and offer it to their vendor at the price they are paying, then email them explain that you have hunted some meat or whatever for them and sold it to their vendor and tell them that you would be happy to hunt for them in the future. This way you will build up a small number of clients, to the extent that you will probably be asked for more resources than you could possibly supply, which is a nice place to be

Use the Find Resources link on www.swgcraft.com. Select the resource either Avian Meat or Herbivor Meat, select your planet, check the available tick box, for Avian Meat enter 50 for OQ and 50 for PE, for Herbivor meat enter 66 for OQ and 33 for PE and hit search. The resultant list of meat will be ranked with the best at the top.

Avian must have an OQ >= 900, Herbivor the OQ should be >=800 (900 is preferable) these are the numbers at which I am able to sell the stuff for a decent price.

I just made 3.5 million credits hunting the last spawn of Herbivor meat called Mothe on Dantooine.

I loosely took2 contracts last week and collected as much as I could for 2-3 days and sold 52k units of hide for 4 million credits. Not too shabby. There is a run of great Talusian herbivore meat right now on my server and I collected 7500 units of. Could easily sell it for 500-750k. I just hate grinding lairs. Having a high level of harvesting ability helps alot. I have to admit tho that using my harvesting droid does help especially when solo grouped to get the bigger missions. That way I get no group harvesting penalty and the droid will collect while I continue to engage the next creature.

So much money to be made and so little time to collect it. Its sad too. So many folks on my servers trade forum want tons of the hide and meat but its so tedious to collect with our low harvesting rate. I give each thread a free bump with anudge that Rangers need a harvesting increase. Gotta spread the word somehow.
