Hi all

Havent been a Ranger for more than two weeks, and realise that I dont have the same right/background to complain/suggest,as the ones been SWGing from the start.Heck...just started 1.5 month ago...

But after reading a bit on the forums I`m left pondering whats in store for us Rangers.

Seems like our skills have become more or less redundant!I mean:

droids track and harvest(better than us I might add)

docs buff u up(not really needing tents,or forageing)

the traps...lol

Its not the point of this thread to flame our beloved Ranger(because I do love the gameplay),nor to point out the different pros/cons,but I`m just wondering what ur thoughts are,on the future of the Ranger.Since most of u have been playing the game for longer then I have,U`ve gotten more of a"feel"of the game in general, and how the devs think/...

So I`m just thinking:Either isthis crippeling of the Ranger occ.isvery good(devs allready have a plan...),or it`s very,very bad...To what end...?Ur thoughts anyone?

Well, a few things - droids are meant to track marks or Jedi I think, and can't track animals, non-mark NPCs, or non-Jedi players. So the droids aren't really better, they are just different.

The harvesting droids were actually meant to help us, not nerf us, by increasing the amount we can harvest (and giving Droid Engineers another thing to make in the the process). However using them can be tricky - and you can't have botha harvest and a combat droid for tanking out at the same time. It took me a while to figure mine out but now I like it. It is useful for a rifleman to not to have to run over to harvest the animals, but it has been said in other threads that it is a little useless for melee types who are right on top of their kills anyway.

Rangers have had a kinda "weak initial skill set" from the beginning. We've gotten a bunch of really cool stuff, like areatrack, and many more ideas presented as coming soon. However, coming soon is going to be a lot longer than we iitially thought. So if you like the current skill set, and are having fun, then play the profession like there are no changes coming. If you are waiting for the changes to come in order for you to enjoy the profession then you may want to move onto other things for a while and come back when the changes do eventually hit. Don't expect to see anything Ranger revamp-wise for another 6 to 12 months. Calc is pushing to get us enhancements to our current skills added through hotfixes, and it will be exciting to see any one of those that have been suggested go through. So we wait.

From your sig I'm guessing you are enjoying the profession as is. Welcome!

Plus harvester droids are far too slow. They are completely worthless realy for the advanced hunter, all they do is slow you down.

Rangers were thought to be the survivalists of the game, being almost completely self sufficent and we are. The harvest droids, buffs, etc. are just there to help us along or help those that just "dabble" as a ranger and not interested mastering it.
