I was thinking of how I would like to decorate my house as a ranger and thought placeing all maner of creatures for display would be fun... With this I thought a fun high level harvest skill should be "harvest trophy" so you could hang the heads of large animals on the walls and possible fully stuffed smaller ones. These could also be sold in new novelty shops (orerat on a stick comes to mind). I think everyone going on a hunt for big game would want a ranger to come along so they could bring home a trophy of that enraged rancor or peko peko albatros. you could even make it a combined thing giving artisians the ability to make plaques that are needed for the trophy gathering.
For the devs: Yea I know its alot of new graphics but its realy just chopping the heads of creatures you already have...(grunt work for a new graphics person

hehe - could add the taxidermy skill to the ranger profession, base it on creature level, so at novice you can stuff a kreetle or something

Taxidermist. The RL ranger in me hates this, but I gotta say, I do love this idea.
As you enter the large naboo house and head up the stairs bound by large banisters, you look up into the snarling head of an enraged bull rancor......mounted on the wall.

Not sure that it's quite as simple as bunging out some graphics, but I know what you mean. (distant memories of a server crash problem a few publishes back being traced to ...wookie armour artwork?)
However, there is a way of doing something like this. Not exactly what you're talking about but an approximation.
I was literally on the verge of quitting the game a while back. Real ticked at just being, well, rubbish at everything. Knowing that a little retail therapy wuld do me the world of good I went on a vendor crawl.
One house I went into had a great collection of helmets along one wall, arranged on shelves made from, I think, book cases and long tables. Am walking along looking at the different helmets, ooh a storm troopers, oooh a Rebel marines, oooh a swoop helm... One of the open faced helmets had a durni's ehad sticking thru it and, when i got in front of it, it animated.
Best laugh I'd had in so long.
Anyhow, back to the plot. You COULD use a BE prepared schematic, 'reverse' it into the wall, arrange a book case to make the mounting board...
In fact, if any BE on Bria would like to donate some small beasties, I'll start an animal trophy wall to show this idea off, lol.
Or TC for that matter...
Hehe, am off to look for some small, cheap pets to mount and stuff.

This was suggested long ago, when rangers got the /track command. People would love it, rangers could make and sell something unique. But i wouldnt hold my breath on anything new.

OK, just tried arranging a 'trophy cabinet' using some bookcases turned to face the wall, raised up to make an artificial panelled section about 50 units from the wall of a house.
Popped a gurreck schematic down, raised it and mved it back 'into' the dummy wall.
Have put the whole assembly above a large table, giving a 'shelf' to let smaller trophy items (loot drops) be displayed.
Arranging some crates, other book cases, furniture items could block in the creatures feet which stick out, and a pile of adjusting could be done to accomodate a bantha / cupa. Biggest problem is when the anim 'lunges' forward. {grin}
Screeny of work in progress: www.gudeman.co.uk/swg/ranger/trophy.jpg
Trophy wall will eventually be in the upstairs office at -3682 1564, about 1km from Mos Espa, tatooine in the Bria galaxy.

This idea has been brought up many times and I think it would be a great addition to the game and the Ranger profession. My vision of how this would work would be to allow the Ranger to not only create a trophy but when the trophy is complete it has the name of the hunter or hunters who inflicted the most damage attached to the trophy so when you click on it you see who actually killed it.
So if a playerwants tosolo an Enraged Bull Rancor or if a group wants to take out a Kyrat then they need to hire a Ranger to go along and when the battle is over the Ranger creates a trophy that has the name of the player or players that participated. Optionally the Ranger can ask to have his name added to the trophy as well so for example when you click on the trophy you see "An Enraged Bull Rancor killed by TkaJoe and BobTheBuilderstuffed and mounted by Ranger Rick".
This idea can also be expanded on by giving Rangers a schematic(s) that requires some items such as wood and polymer as well as the required organic hides to create a specific trophy.Variations of the schematic(s) can allow you to create a head mount or a full body trophy. And as someone has already mentioned the Taxidermy skill can bespread outso that as a novice you can mount smallerCL's but at master you can mount the highest CL's.
I really do like this idea and think it would be afun sideline skill for Rangers ..... ok that's just my $0.02 ......

Big, mostly empty trophy cabinet.

The gurreck is just stood at table height, smaller animals can be 'floated' to whatever position they look best at.
I tried a bantha, but it has too much chest and breaks through the graphic too much. Recon a cupa would work tho.
Vague recolection of seeing some cupa and some big dinosaur heads on a wall someplace. Jabba's? Nym's? So the artwork does exist for a trophy. WOrking it into the game as a ranger skill would be the bind though.
And nothing to do with Rangers, but amusing for a few seconds:

Woo, that's neat, Almagill.
If you want to go simple, you could probably use armor plates as the "base" for the head, too. I think I want to try that with some sort of squill!
