Thread: Conceal?
For BHs to get conceal is silly. It's a waste of SPs, not to mention the fact they probably can't even envision how to make and use the kits.
Currently it works on low low low level NPC and most creatures. Like thugs for the NPCs, and some Imperial Officers (who rate right up there with the BHs on the IQ scale).
Not Players, it never has, and the Devs say never will. Not in the current format anyhow.
Why yes, conceal is best used on people who can't maskscent, glad you asked that. Docs and Artisans with zero scout love conceal, as it at least gives them a chance to hide from critters. Course, a Ranger has to make it, and use it on them, and of course they hate to pay for it. Like I hate paying for their buffs and overpriced clothes, but that's another thread.

When I first started working on ranger, I imagined that "conceal" was like a stealth or hide ability. I figured high levels of "conceal" in conjunction with the player tracking ability made us pseudo bounty hunters.
The reason I envisioned this (and liked the concept) is that I was dreaming of role-playing a bit. I was thinking of being a hermit and patrolling my territory. Any opposite faction PC toons (if I were rebel or imp) I would find I could hunt down and kill. With a stealth ability and tracking I would be able to engage them and follow them w/o their knowledge.
I was disappointed to find that the skill only works against NPC's and animals, however I still could do some of this in a limited fashion.
Is the concept of Conceal at master levels being able to hide you from PC's a viable idea? I think so, but maybe I am wrong (I have zero PVP XP in SWG). If someone sees my little "blue blip" on the screen coming they will know I am around, this skill would give us the advantage someone who is highly skilled at camo should have and would make us very viable in PVP.
Thoughts?

It works... sporadicly.
I find that italmost always fails against NPCs that I have negative faction with, and sometimes those that I have positive faction with as long as there is a Red in the group.
I've also noticed that it tends to work more often if you are not within an NPCs forward vision arc, but that may just be coincidence.
Against Red NPCs that have no faction (Weequay Thugs, Evil Hermitsand such), I find that it works nearly 100% of the time.
Maybe it planet spacific. Lok cammo conceal others and I from NPC even if im overt going in reb camp. Tat cammo Worthless on me. but seems to work well on Newbs outta eisley i take out to help.
Kreetles have got a direct line to the local Thug HQ. "Fat ranger wandering about looking sneaky, kill him quick and we'll feast on his bones".
Only way it makes sense.
