Thread: Just need abit of help after long time away.

Hi everyone, could any of you help me with my temp. atm I am ranger 0/0/4/0. Do I need Art skill to make camps or traps ? Should i keep it or let it go? Also I have a few skills in Ch are they worth keeping, as in do they help add to ranger?Last is I've been reading here for awhile and seen alot of rangers like swords or unarmed, well i'm novice carbine, should I stick with this? Just been gone for too long to even know where to start. Also looking for a guild on WH.

You can dump artisan like a bad habit.
No artisan is needed at all to craft our stuff. Nor is it needed to run harvestors to gather metal and poly uses to make traps. Just plop amineral harvestor down, and take whatever metal is in the highest concentration. Same deal with the chemical harv - tho you may have to wait on polymers.
Your call on the CH - tho check out some of the new droids as tanks.

You don't need the artisan skill to make camps or traps. Only rangers/scouts get those schematics. Since they mostly take bone and hide, you'll be able to get your own resources. You only need the occasional metal or polymer later on to craft the higher end traps or camps - and even then, you don't need much. You can buy enough on the bazaar, rather than taking up artisan/survey.
I can't comment on CH or weapon preference. There are all types of rangers. Basically, whatever suits your playstyle.

Thanks for the fast replies . One more question if you have time. Any advice on what kind of armor I should look for.

I'd vote to skip the armor. But I'm crazy.
For general use, you will probably want Ubese (around 70% kinetic defense, reasonable HAM costs, very good for creature hunting).
If you have a lot of money and want to spend it, look into some kinetic layered composite (up to 80% kinetic defense, usually high HAMs).
If you want to do PvP, look into some 90% sliced stun layered composite (almost always high HAM but the best protection you can get).

I would agree on the "skip the armor" advice... Nothing more liberating than running through the bush in nothing but my lily-white skin.
