I read somewhere that there are three species dropping avian on talus, rasps, fynocks, and gulginaws.
What is a gulginaw and where can I find them, are there missions or them?
Also, are there missions for fynocks? I get rasp missions at 1400 credits and only if I unequip my rifle.

Go to swg.allakhazam.com, then click on the Resources Link. From there, look for Avian, then Talus.
There you will find the information you're looking for.

There are rasp missions, but no clue at the level. Only missions I get that low are fynocks, like you. And that's unarmed.
Use /ar south of Dearic or ne of Naschal and you will find devil gulginaws. Never seen a normal gul on Talus now that I think of it.
good luck, you will need it.
Never hunt Talus avian or wooley, you will go insane at the time it takes.

I hunted talus tell i was blue in the face, but i never heard of a gulginaw. Doesnt mean they dont exist, but ive never seen them.
Theres two primary types of avians on talus. Rasps and fynocks. Both avians come in two sizes. small and err.. larger than the smaller ones.
Rasps the larger version is Gigas,
Fynocks, the larger version is Jungle fynocks.
Now, i don't know about all rasps, but i do know that with fynocks, theres two primary types you see. Fearful (which you can get in missions) and Jungle (which you can't get from missions, and only spawn naturally). Fearful fynocks have low yield, 8 , 10, 14 or so. Jungle fynocks have a higher yield, 20 to 30 units.
Natural fynock lairs are always "Mounds". Rasps are usually "dead logs", but they do appear in other lair types. "earth mounds" are alawys mites, so you can ignore those.
Talus avian, in general, sucks for yeild per kill. I've heard rumors about a larger type of critter than a jungle fynock, but they must be pretty rare, or a large group mission mob, cause ive never seen anything that large on talus. Except maybe a peku peku alabross. Not sure if i saw something like that on talus or naboo, regardless, jungle fynocks are rare natural spawns, if theres anythign larger than that, its even more rare.

Devil Gulginaws are by far the best supply of Avian meat on Talus. However you can't get missions for them, you'll have to hunt the sandy lowlands in order to find a spawn. Watch out, they attack in groups and are a right pain in the ass.

www.swgcreatures.com is excellent for finding meat types from creatures and getting other info about those creatures.

I'm not sure if it's the best spot on all servers, or even the best spot on Ahazi, but when we had good Talus avian, I just patrolled the East and SouthEast until I found Devil lairs. As a novice scout, I was still able to get 1k of meat per lair fairly easily. As Master Swordsman, taking on the whole group at once wasn't too bad, as long as I had a Quickness buff and plenty of stims.
WOW
I am headed there right now to see what I can find =0)

The Devil Gulginaws are a random spawn (never seen anything but the devil type). They always spawn from piles of bones. They look like small flying Dragons and yes they are spitters. They will agro when one is attacked. However, they fan out pretty far from the nest and if you are patient, you can get on the far side of one and pull it without the others agroing. I have only come across them in the NW corner of the map and most often within 1000 meters of the battlefield near the imp outpost. You can get quite a few of these creatures to spawn from the nest if you work it slowly ... they will continue spawning without really having to actually "tap" the nest for quite awhile ... I had almost 30 spawn from one nest just a couple of days ago ... and harvested 56 units per creature as master ranger using Vegash.
Stats for the Devil Gulginaw:
3264 Health 2986 Action 3483 Mind
Base to Hit 0.31 Damage 170-180
Deathblows Special Attack: Dizzy Strike
Effective are Cold and Electricity
Special Protection 15% Kinetic - Energy - Blast
And, for you CH's ... yes they are tamable and usually 2 babies will spawn from a nest.

I have seen em spawn very rarelybetween Dearic starport and Rwookrorro in my travels to and from. So you could probably look around the center of the map too.
