Thread: Why Dantooine?

I don't want this to come off as whining, just a simple question. Why did the devs decide to put 3 of the creature resources necessary for wookie armor on dantooine? Did this place not already have enough lag? Combat is sluggish, and harvesting takes a long time...well, compared to a lag free place. I've got a city everywhere I go, and guys swooping past me every 10 seconds. This planet was already bad, and I could usually avoid it, but not now. I know, I could just say no, I won't go there. But then I wouldn't be doing my job, and I won't do that. I'm just wondering whose great idea it was to make all this stuff come from dantooine?

I sympathise, but I'd be more upset if they'd directed loads of traffic over to somewhere like Yavin 4 (which is already the hunting grounds for Ceremonial Armour: Be vewy vewy quiet, I'm huntin' Mawgaxes huhuhuhuhuhuhuh). Some places need to be quiet very sparsely populated to keep up the "playing experience" rather than each planet becoming a sequential player sink.

I hear what your saying, I treasure my isolated planets. But, I don't think putting those resources on other planets would lead to overpopulation. From what I see, most people just don't hunt for creature resources very much. I mean, why hunts bones for 50cpu when you can run 30k+ missions solo. Just doesn't add up for those people. Just my take.

I agree with you about Dantooine, grinding planet that it is. However, you can turn the situation to your advantage. All those lag-inducing skill and money grinding players havesome valuable commodities for us Rangers. Ignorance or disinterest.
I've done both of the following to help me finish off big Dantooine orders:
First of all, find a solo-grouper, ask if they have any harvesting skills, then:
1) If they do, then offer to buy the resource you want off them, at a low price. They either do not appreciate the resources value, or just don't care and agree to cooperate out of friendliness.
2) If they don't, then ask if you can tag along with them. Then all you have to do is follow them round and harvest. Sure you don't get as much 'cos you're grouped, but these buffed-up, comp-wearing grinders will go through a huurton howler lair in about a minute or two, so speed will make up for your 40% harvest drop (and you can make up for this if you use a droid).

As a founder of a 60 home Dant town on bloodfin believe me i more then understand. A patch or two ago there was a note about load balancing being done to Dant. And it seemed to help for a week or so. But at night now its becoming almost unplayable. My belief is some of the load will be taken off by tomorrows patch while all the grinders run to Dath after the old man visit
I just keep my fingers crossed it will get better

I don't know about other servers, but the NW corner and around the Mining Outpost seem to be the most populated on Dantooine on Tarquinas ... when I want to hunt without a large populace and lag, I simply head down to the southern part of the map out of the Agro Outpost ... so few people down there that I truly feel like a "Ranger In the Wild".

My towns by the imperial starport, in fact only 1300m from it, and we feel the mining outposts lag there. The area is not that populated at all.
