I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but LoS is now going to play a large role in hunting and pvp even.
I bet that you have, when hunting with friends, more than a few times had to wait up for them as you are running over mountains. With LoS (which, for those of you who don't know, means no more shooting through mountainsides), people will have to actually run across hilly and mountainous terrain. If you think back to your newb days, you will remember how slow you go without hyped up terrain negotiation. People wont be able to go nearly as fast as us, and now our terrain negotiation will actually count. Ever since vehicles were introduced, it has been fairly useless.
So, basically, rangers will ghet the upper hand in mountain fighting, and we will, to a degree, get the guerrila (sp?) fighting we have been wanting.
Just thought there had to be a silver lining somewhere.

You're absolutely correct. The TN skills provided to rangers will be even more valuable right now. For the unbuffed hunters who currently rely on their TN skill now, they will be much better prepared as hunters post CU.
Between TN and Traps, Rangers will have a more valuable arsenal at their disposal... despite the strain on combat skills.

Going from scout to ranger on TC and getting my uber crawl rate made a huge difference to hunting because LoS would mean that I got a 'you can't see your target' msg 9 times out of 10 and would have to shuffle a little to the left or right.
Its not 'much' of a difference, but it does give us a slight edge.
In PvP its going to be well useful, things getting a bit 'hot'? /burst for cover and heal up. Hey, its not kiting, its tactics... and they're a slow, heavyarmour wearing target

Not to be a poo poo head, but all of the benfits of TN as described here are gained from the Scout tree. That being said, the people most likely to master Scout to benefit from TN are...Rangers! let's not even talk about CM! Maybe the CU will take their TN away
(I kid!).
EDIT: Yeah, there is the crawl speed thing, but I think mostly only Riflemen will benefit from the crawl speed.

Please don't! The server has been running mostly very well lately. I don't need you crashing it!

the LOS has been on TC for a while.
it stinks.
1) it doesn't work. AOE's still spray through walls, structures, terrain.
2) it doesn't work. the line is drawn "base-of-attacker to base-of-target".
3) it doesn't work. lairs can sit "underground" and be unattackable from most angles.
4) it doesn't work. right now, "upper ground" is inferior to lower. with terrain negotiation, that just means you can run to a bad position faster and give the advantage to your opponent.
the LOS code really is bad, but I do wish they'd clean it up a bit and push it Live. quickest and most effective fix? change the LOS calculation from "foot to foot" to centermass or head.

Have to admit, the general implimentation of LoS on TC sucked tho.
The foot of target to foot of target meant you could clearly SEE a target but couldn't shoot it.
The width of an object that could 'hide' a target was ludicrous. I mean, faamba, sapling. I can see 98% of its front, how in heck can I 'not see your target'.
I'd got into the habit or ditchrunning without thinking about it. If I was 'underground' I was generally safe from attacks. Running up hills has seemed less and less useful recently, and Zaws observation about the way LoS calculates visibility explains a lot.
Must pay attention on the CU server and see whats happening there.
