Master Ranger costs 140 skill points leaving 110.

This allows the following Master professions to combine with Master Ranger (and leaves (x) remaining skill points).

Legal combinations :
TK (4)
Fencer (4)
Swordsman (4)
Pikeman (4)
Pistoleer (4)
Carbineer (4)
Rifleman (4)
Creature Handler (47)
Bounty Hunter (18)
Bio Engineer (18)
Doctor (4)
Squad Leader (18)

Illegal combinations :
Smuggler (-11)
Commando (-11)
Combat Medic (-11)

I think I got all the numbers right ;-)

The only problem with lets say being a mr/mch and trying to use all those left over sp is that you still don't have enough to make into another master prof to dabble in being you have to have to get ranged support now. Pain in the buttocks really.

Yup, for the most part, Rangers will have 4 sp left over. The only place you can stick this (ok, other than THAT option) is in FS skills which really prevents you from switching between Melee and Ranged if you choose one of those branches.
I have 2sp invested in Melee speed right now and I'm going ranged after the CU... am I'm up the creek without a paddle here?

If I can bring myself to not have master ranger for the long-haul, I might consider this:

Master Carbineer
BH 0/4/0/0
Ranger 3/0/4/4

We'll see how it all shakes out on TC. It's really too early to make any serious judgements or decisions.

The prereqs for MBH are now Ranged Support 4 and Exploration 4.
We already have Exploration 4, so all that is now required is 29 points to get novice marksman and Ranged support 4, and 63 points for MBH : total 92 out of the 110 we have left !!

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

well, we'll need a combat prof to compliment MRanger (assuming the sp prereqs stay the same), and we'll be at a disadvantage if we want to PvP because if you read the CU docs you'll see that a full and complete/well-balanced template will need an elite combat prof, plus another one to fulfill the weaknesses (ex.: MBH, who are tanks, with some Rifle for the range). I hear some folk talking about going full out [prof] though (ex.: MBH for the tank, and TKM to double the tanking prowess).

it all makes sense to me. What I think we may see happen is the disappearance of Scout altogehter, and having access to Ranger through another 1 or 2 branches of another basic prof (I couldn't guess which one). Unless they allow us to hit Ranger with only 2 branches of scout, and completely changing the skill set for Rangers so they are similar but different than the explore/survive/trap/harvest skills for Scouts. Maybe adding a combat tree to Ranger and a combat mitigation tree, while keeping harvesting and scouting.

So we could hit the max for camps and traps at Scout level 4 (in each branch), and go on to better things for Ranger (and not just slightly extending the Scout prof). But that would mean that we could potentially lose out on traps and camps if we choose to hit up a combat prof and wanted to reduce the amount of xp that we use for our Rangers...

Did any of that make sense... It seems everytime I come up with a glimpse of what might happen, I force 3 new concerns/questions into my head. And I know they'll do us good, but the waiting is murder, haha. Ah well, if I can sit in a bush for 20 minutes waiting to hunt some obscure creature, I can handle this.

What some people are missing is the fact that unless they have a combat mastery, they could miss out on the best weapons and moves post-CU.

The NDA prevents me from saying more.

Altho I am about gonna die if I have to go BH to be effective as a Ranger.

My IQ can't take a 50 point drop. Hell, the only thing that stops me from drooling is the +100 Ranger.

And this is something that really worries me. That means that Rangers, the "elite" hunters, are STILL not so 'elite'. Kinda like how, under the current system, a stacker who dabbles in ranger and scout can pretty pretty darn effective at hunting/harvesting. With this new pressure to have multiple combat profs combined with a "ranger revamp" still only a distant figment of our imagination, it makes it hard to hang on to Master Ranger.

Dunno, JB, I think your IQ only drops if you spend time in their forum.

I reckon a MR/MBH would be an interesting combo, especially from an RP PoV. Plus it gives you a bit of viability in PvP and some serious monkey making opportunities...

"Dewd, ur a renger? Track for me a graul maruader will ya??"
"Sure, pay up front and I'll stick around to cover your back while you kill the beasty..."

grep his mission off the terms, then collect on it when he kills the marauder
