Combat medics are getting there own "special pistol" at master. I haven't been too negative though this, but damnit this is something else that is wrong. A former support class just got made a viable combat class. This just isnt right. There is absolutely no reason they couldnt have included us in SOMETHING.

Here's Blix's post on the combat medic forum:

Not just "a pistol at Master". More like a "fantastic DPS unique pistol" at Master. Since no one but master CMs can use it, you definitely garner some respect using one of these in battle. As to why a pistol? Medical professions if they are associated with weapons are typically associated with a small sidearm so it doesnt impede their healing duties.

That is absolutely absurd!! A medical profession is associated with a weapon, but ranger (creature centric hunters as they've pigeon-holed us) are not associated with combat??

If this doesn't set a precedent for a ranger only weapon, I don't know what does.

On a different note, CMs were always a very viable combat class. However, their weapons are bio-warfare related. And powerful at that.. I'm not sure why they need additional strength.

I know I'm being pessimistic, but I worry that our "revamp" will consist of spreading out creature harvesting abilities and terrain negotiation to all the combat professions, giving /areatrack to squad leader and Bounty hunters, and completely removing the useless traps and camps from the game, as well as the scout/ranger profession itself. Let's face it, it would certainly be an easier route for them to take, and might explain why scout/ranger was left from the CURB "to address at a later date".

Is that likely? Probably not, but it's entirely possible. They've already given "radar stealth" to riflemen, made politician free, reduced ID sp requirements (too much trouble to revamp, so reduce the SP so they can pick up more "useful" skills), and simplified SP requirements for many professions with the CURB (CM, Doc, SL, etc). Who's to say that, rather than "revamp" us with new and useful abilites, it may just be easier to do as they've done in the past and take the simple route.

The devs have been scratching their heads to define our profession for almost two years, and they can't even tell us we're a combat profession.. obviously, they have different (or no) ideas about the direction our profession should take, and those differ greatly from how the scout/ranger community envisions that direction.

I hate being negative and predicting doom for the future, especially concerning something that's just a game... I hate reading posts by others who do the same! I know it's too soon, and I may be overreacting, but it just seems like this total lack of attention is nothing but a bad sign. If anyone can convince me otherwise, please do. I'd love to be optimistic about our profession, but I'm finding it increasingly hard to do so.

Don't worry Kimi. Rangers have and always will make it through whatever is thrown at them or not thrown at them. We will come out where we want to be. Just make some noise and voice your concerns loudly and logically.

What aggrivates me is that you can me a CM or a Doc for that matter and never enter combat. The only thing that made CM so popular was their ability to endlessly spam uber poisons and heal mind. This caused people to pick up Doc to counter this. Making both of these have inmportnat roles in combat. This, however, does not change the fact that a CM or Doc is required to enter combat. Unlike us where it is physically impossible to play our class without entering combat. Where is the justification in giving these two classes difined combat roles and classifying them as a combat class when we are left sitting on the fence with this awesome mystery classification. We aren't combat, we aren't crafters, our only support is rescue and conceal (lol). I just don't get this freakin mentality of the devs.

Wow, CM's get theit own weapon? That's ***edited for profanity*** great. WTG CM's.

And Riflemen can be invisible on radar? Well, that's ***edited for profanity*** great. WTG Riflemen

And Rangers? We get ***edited for profanity***

Things better start looking a bit rosier round Ranger Avenue or I'm going to get totally ***edited***

lol, the problems the CU is causing for the ranger profession just reminded me of a ranger insanity post I read a while ago which discussed the /ultimaterangerattack or something along those lines. We pick it up at novice and it allows us to instantaneously kill any creature we desire. Think about it, that's the only way rangers can kill things without entering combat. I'm thinking we could be the next uber class to go with jedi. We're going to be giving up most of our sp, just as jedi give up most of theirs. We are the ultimate PvEers, they are the ultimate PvPers. It all seems to fit in nicely with the devs' mentality
