Lets dedicate this thread to positive straight forward changes that can be made right now. I recommend avoiding any ideas that might step on our toes for the Revamp though.
First off I'd say this...
- Take the trapping tree and give it Combat Level bonuses in line with those trees in other professions which give CL bonuses. (do the same for Scout in trapping.)
- Remove the SP requirements for Mastering Novice Professions. Right now there is no push to master a novice profession so why bother charging skill points for it? Since only Master Ranger requires this extra 6pt investment it would only be directly affecting our profession anyways.
- Increase Trapping XP gain and Scouting XP gain to be more in line with Combat XP and Weapon XP respectively.
Anyone else have suggestions? Or maybe wanna bash mine? ![]()

I'd say that exploration and hunting also would have an effect on combat level. Exploration gives us TN which can be a great help in kiting. Hunting gives us the creature to hit bonus and the creature knowledge stuff (although this tree is currently creature only). It's hard to argue for a survival bonus, though.
As for skill points for mastering novice professions, I'm not sure that is a great idea. You could argue that the cost of all the earlier skills offsets the cost of the master box but there are often quite nice bonuses for mastering the novice skills. Giving it for free would only effect us as far as prereq costs are concerned but there are still people who will want the master level boxes for the stuff inside them. I like the idea but we definitely won't be the only people affected by it. Personally, I like the idea of dropping the novice novice profession boxes from 15 skill points to 10. There would still be a significant investment for picking up a new novice skill but 15 points is quite high. This would give Master Rangers the ability to pick up Novice Medic with their Master elite combat profession.
And I agree that scout xp needs to go up in all forms. Scouting XP and Trapping XP are both slow now and Survival XP has always been slow.
I'd also argue that the exact challenge level should not be visible on all the targets. Just giving the colored con should be enough. Actually listing the number ends up devaluing our skill set even more. It seems like a small thing but the CL rating at Master Scout has always been one of the profession's advantages. It's not necessary for everyone to know the exact numbers and giving it to them makes another of our skills useless.

I would say change the camping and trapping scout trees, making them useful.
make is so you can get to Ranger with only 2 trees in scout evening ranger with other classes.
continue the changes in the camping and trapping trees from scout into ranger.
ideas for changes are similar to others I have seen. Combat skills, special weapon certs, better traps or thrown weapons, improved sneaking, (in current cu you with the rifleman cover skill you dont need ranger for that) make a ranger better at cover.
Can we get a response from develpment please?

Bah, I am trying to stay positive. I been arguing with the goobers in the TC forum about us and our health bonus. Its bringing me down man!!!!!I am gonna keep that thread alive til they ban me..... lol.
Revamp wise we all know what we would like but I was more thinking the other day about if they removed the high amount of skill points required... Would there be any line of Scout I would want to lose? Nah.. I dont think so. I was more thinking the lines of Ranger dropping from starting at 5 instead of 4. That way we save 16 skill points to devote elsewhere.
I'm glad I'm not a correspondent. I would be banned already.... lol.
