Thread: Ranger Melee/Ranged Defense Modifiers

In order to semi-balance Ranger with the rest of the combat professions, doesn't it seem fair that we receive the same ranged/melee defense modifiers as them? Even at Master Ranger we do not stack up to the other professions, do we? I haven't done too much homework here, but at a quick glance it seems we are below what everyone else is getting. If we contribute to the combat level now, we should reflect that in our defenses as well.


Hey Owen, you did so well getting Ranger recognized for the combat level, perhaps you could use your skills of logic and reasoning here too. You could do it, even if you were "Drunk drunk drunk".

Forget it, drop ranger unless you want to run around with half the stats as all the other CU Stacker templates. My ranger/rifle cant even make a dent in the action bar no matter how many specials I spam. As soon as he gets agroed by a few level 30's he's toast because hes got no area effect shot and not enough time/health to sit there and wait for the zip downloads to go by killing them one by one.

This is all revamp stuff mate. In order to have an effective place in the game we need our own role and therefore once this role is defined we should get the combat mods etc to support that role.


The devs are seeing us more and more as a combat profession now thanks to the Alpha team laying down undisputable discussion points so there is no reason in my mind that a ranger would not get combat related mods in the revamp.

When is this revamp? I think they should've done it in RotW because of the safari stuff they are adding, and it's coming out soon so that would be cool

Oh it will be after Rotw. The last reports i heard were they are talking about doing it after the CU (no timeframe) and from the breakfast; the revamp will be after smuggler's and BH.

Oh that's good to know, smugglers need it bad I guess. Not so keen on BH's getting it before us but there are alot more BHs than Rangers so I can understand their prioritizing. I'm really excited for the revamp because the community has thought up some amazing things.

That's good stuff. However, 'upgrading' our ranged and melee defences as part of the combat-revamp shouldn't be a ranger-revamp-breaking issue should it?

Until Ranger gets a revamp, they really should be tossing in some mods to help out. As Ranger can be combined with ranged or melee, I suggest this:

General Ranged Accuracy +45
General Ranged Speed +15
General Melee Accuracy +45
General Melee Speed +15
Melee Defense +60
Ranged Defense +60

This gives Rangers enough of a boost to be at least useful(the boost that is, not Rangers themselves ), without unbalancing things. It's nothing special but it's better than nothing.

See that is what I'm saying. Give us a few modifiers, then revamp us. We need a little something to hold us over and make us viable against double masters.
