Thread: Does this bug anyone else about organic resource quality?
As a ranger you harvest not better stuff than a scout but more of it per harvest.
Its similar for Artisans and their surveying skill. They don't harvest better resources but more of it in the same timeframe.
If your creature-knowledge skill (or whatever) would give you a +quality, than we would endup having about 8 different qualities for each organic resource per planet.
Yes it bugs me that Wooly Hide I got on Dantooine while dieing 5 times is much worse quality than the Wooly Hide I got on Corellia skinning bunny rabits .
So if I want anything that I can sell I gotta go back to killing bunnies ???
Give me a god damned break .
This makes about as much sense as having 2 water sources on Tatooine and 1 one Corellia , or having a solar power source " run out " .
Doesn't make any sense at all except from the point of view of lazy two-dimensional game design .
/shrug - I have so many different "wooly hide" containers along with the scaley and such in my backpack since a deranged squall still gives different hide than a regular one (I thought it was just mental problems), I'm sure I wouldn't notice that I had a few more. We should be rotating stock anyway.
Maybe it's a new bonus given at ranger levels: +10 harvest quality given at one or 2 levels. Instead of adding new types of hide to the current database, it could also just give us some of the next higher quality hide in the database (Well, that could get messy too from a programming standpoint)
There needs to be something to help protect the rangers from the ninja-harvesting scouts out there like the ability to get the leftovers from after the scout is done with it. I'm not going to ninja-harvest myself, though sometimes I feel like I should. We should at-least get the difference between what they harvested and what's left or a resource that hasn't been harvested yet, so a scout and 2 rangers should all 3 be able to harvest sometthing from the creature. This would allow us to be able to contribute more to to group play, otherwise we just need to solo a lot or do a lot more to find a well-rounded group that will allow the ranger to do the harvesting and share the loot. This does seem to have gotten a bit better now that people are starting to have to give up skills.
One of the reasons I focused on leveling up was so that I could specialize as a hunter who brought in high quality resources from the advanced planets. Sadly this does not happen. With the exception of Endorian Wooly (Which is a specific resource needed regardless of quality) I have virtually zero market from the advanced planets. When I look at web sites and from my own experiences harvesting on these advanced planets, most of the quality scores are garbage. Most of the great quality resources seem to come from the starting planets.
Perhaps it was a misconception of mine, but I thought the advanced planets were supposed to be the prime spots for gathering the "uber" resources for making end-game quality crafted items. It's just frustrating for me because I don't want to go farm noob creatures just to get high quality materials. I want to have fun, challenging fights that also supply me with the goods!
