Thread: To group or Not to group, that is my question...
Initially only one person could harvest from one animal, grouped ornot. Understandably this led to a lot of solo hunting. Then the idea of group harvesting came into being, an unlimited number (ok, 20, max group size) can all harvest from any single animal, but at only 60% of what they as an individual would normally harvest.
Not being a math major, I hate numbers, I thought at first this was not fair. However, in the long run, more resources are harvested, as long as there are two people of equal rank harvesting. One Master = 100%. Two Masters = 120% of normal yield, just split 60/60. If the two are cooperating, good news. If they are not cooperating - well they can kill more animals together quicker and get more harvest.

I've found that solo'ing is better then small groups. But that a large organized group is better even with the reduced harvest.
Reason being in a well organized larger group instead of heading out, doing 2 missions, heading back, repeat. Instead you get to do 20 or 30 missions all 1 direction without all the travel time getting new missions.
Also you can often get better mob types in a large group.
ei: hunting for endor wooly. Solo you can get gurrek missions, you get two, head out and do em, head back and get more. and so on and so forth.
in a hunting group you can get mantrigue missions and after the initial time investment where everyone gathers together and gets their missions you can go out and do mantrigue mission after mantrigue mission untill everyones tired of hunting.

For example, I harvested 33 units of meat when I was solo, but when I was with 1 other person my harvest on the exact same animal dropped to 16 units. All my friend has is Scout 2/0/3/0, and he was able to harvest 9 units while grouped with me.What kind of affect would this have in a group of 4 or 5? Will my harvest drop to 5-6 units? I just don't understand such a drastic reduction in the harvest.Thanks-Trinity
It's true , there is a reduction.. So much so that it seems to hurt my harvest to the point where I have gone totally solo. Consider me a hermit..
I think to be honest its a 60% harvest ? I get a little over 50% I'm sure but have never really done the calculations.. Consider this though, if you have 10 people in your group and you are the only one harvesting from the kills why would you group ?
Killing difficult creatures on adventure planets is the only time where the drop in harvest would be justified, or if you are part of a full hunting party for a guild or something.. Rancor hunts and other things that can't be done solo should not be done solo.. Everything else is your own, and exp doesn't usually matter if you stick with your profession.
