On the Valcyn server we have implimented a player bounty system(others may want to check it out). I'm a novice ranger and i wanted to know if the Player Track will help me find players that have been in the area and will it give me direction on where to look, ect.

"wanted to know if the Player Track will help me find players that have been in the area"

/areatrack will only list what is currently in a 500m radius of your location.

Sadly, the skillwill notlist players that have already left the search area.

Hello, im planning on being a Ranger and wondering if the Player Track is any use in PvPing. Like when you track a person, does it state that they are Overt and it is a 500m radius correct?

If so, would this be a good combination of Bh Tracking and Ranger Tracking?

Thanks.

player tracking gives no other information than name, distance and direction. No overt/ profession or anything like that.

With BH droid tracking, you can gain the general area, then search in a 500m radius from there.

hope this helps.

You cant tell if someone is overt but yes they will show up if they are in 500m range.

However its prety pointless unless you know who is of what faction and attackable because it doesnt indicate rebels/imperials/neutrals either, just the persons name.

Player tracking can be great in certain situations to find a certain person or see if anyone is aproaching, however if you are using it to track friends /findfriend is much more easier to use.

Hmmmm....this person has a size 13 shoe....he MUST be a combat medic....AND an Imperial.

I can't imagine a Ranger being able to tell that much information by following the tracks of another person.

anyway, as everyone else said, no, there is no way to see there faction. However, if you're planning a base raid and you know how far away the base is, you can generally guess what faction everyone standing around that base is.

And if you're defending your base, it's generally easy to tell which way an attack is coming from if you see 30 people pop up from one direction all of asudden.

Use a little common sense, and areatrack will do wonders for you. As for BH tracking, I'd suggest not going Ranger. You'll be a more effective BH is you get some melee skills. and unless you're a complete idiot, you can track your targets pretty easily after a few droids. A quick hint- your targets move in a straight line and head for a city. When I was BH, I was able to determine which starport the target was heading to and was there waiting for them 500m from the starport.

It's really not all that difficult. anyway, I hope this helps.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Honestly, the only time I have found Player Tracking usefull in PvP is while defending a base, to spot a good concentration of enemy players gathering and getting ready to raid the base. Oh, I also found it usefull once when my group was after an enemy Jedi, to get his bearing once he started to Force Run 3.

I find this very usefull, however, when I'm tracking the Hero of Tatooine NPCs for customers, as I can get an idea of how many people are also looking. This allows me to be extra carefull once I get a hit of the mark I'm looking for, as I will not get close to it when several more people are around and not until my customer arrives

I use it in raids to find out about how many bad guys are at their base. Works on the ones outside, and 99% of the time, I never get within radar range ( stay 300m out). Dumbazzes all stand around outside and let me count.

I use it on defense - I go 525 m away from the base, pop camp, covert. Sit and /ar. Two other rangers cover the only other two approaches to our base. If they come by sea, well, tough to swim in, and they will lose their nifty speeders. Works well too - out of 5 tries when I was on, caught 5 raids inbound. Found their base camp twice - same range and direction twice in a row - and with help of aggro critters, disrupted the proceedings.

Just fun things to do when bored

ever hide, maskscented, in a pack of aggros? I did, while overt, and it worked.

I use it after a fight or if i know an overt rebels in the area. I get an attack party ready and just track their movements in the area. And see how many people are with them. Actually made me quite usefull in larger scale PvP

Actually, if that were true then whydoesit state a NPC is a Imperial medic/trooper etc. I see no difference between players.
