hey,
for any Lowca Rangers out there, i need your help. in the trade forum, there have been several threads popping up from crafters saying that there seem to be fewer and fewer organics harvesters on Lowca. because of this, people have begun selling meat to chefs for ungodly high prices. because of these ungodly prices, the prices of foods have been gradually going up to meet the cost of crafting the food.
if there are any Lowca rangers out there, please take a break from the village, and help out our crafters. the crafters are the backbone of the SWG economy, and our primary source of income.
here is an example of how i'm going to help out a chef. dath insect meat is pretty good right now. i've seen it selling for as much as 75 cpu. but, in order to help lessen the cost of foods, i am selling the 30k of insect meat i've gotten so far at 30cpu to a chef who just had to raise all of his food prices. that might not make me as much money as selling at 75cpu, but that is still almost 1 million credits for the 30k stack. also, this particular chef, Nadien, as stated in the trade forum that he'll sell all food and drink to rangers who selling meat on the cheap, for 25% off. i plan on working as a regular resource gatherer for him, as he seems like a real nice guy.
so lowca rangers, please get out there, and help our crafters out, and try not to be greedy, by selling stuff for such ungodly amounts. (i'm sure i'll get flamed for this, as most people are after the money, but this is just one Rodian's opinion).

I agree with you. the prices that are currently being asked for resources is too high. my brother is playing a doc, and all he hears is 'doc can you buff me for free, why not it's you job'. Then they ask insane prices for their resources.

exactly.
doctors and chefs aren't as rich as some people think they are. my roommate is a master doctor, who buys his buff packs. he pays roughly 8k for a full set of 6 stats. most doctors charge 10-15k on lowca for a set of buffs. so that isn't a HUGE profit, when you also consider buying Bivoli (to make buffs better). Bivoli is some VERY expensive food. then buying batteries for their medic droids, buying a BE'ed Doctor's Dress, and it really adds up.
chefs are the same way. they need those chef experimentation SEAs so they can remain competitive, along with also needed the best resources they can get. unfortunatly, a few chefs had to begin increasing their prices to make up for the increase in cost of organics. this increase in costs seems to be directly related to the fewer organic harvesters out there. right now everyone is caught up in Jedi Village Fever, and all they care about is grinding as many XP points as they possibly can. so most resort to the Janta/Mokk missions, since they are quick missions for an Elite combat profession master. plus these missions pay a TON of credits. in an improved job market, with a large enough solo group you can pull 34k per mission.
personally, the highest i have ever charged for any organic was 80 cpu, which was for Rori Wooly hide that we had in shift 4 or 5 months ago. other than that hide, i've never charged over 50cpu as far as i can remember, and i don't plan on ever charging more than that. in fact, i'll probably consider lowering that to 30 or 35 cpu. i've already got over 5 million in the bank, and a large assortment of vibroknucklers, so i don't really need the LARGE amount of credits, as my primary expenses are buffs and food/drink. and with my lower organics prices, i have a chef willing to sell me food/drink very cheap.

I KNOW there must be a RIN channel on Lowca - if you push it to your doc/chef friends it will become busy and eventually they may be able to identify some harvestors they would like to entice into their guilds. It also allows them to control their own prices if that is something they want to do, by putting out "bounties" on certain types of organics.
Ignore this post if you are already an active member/proponent of RIN.

i'm not even familiar with RIN. i've seen it said in the forums before, but i'm not sure what exactly it is.

RIN (Ranger Information Network, or Resource Information Network) is a chat channel specific for buying selling organic resources and sharing information about what is good at the moment. Kind of like an auction channel that players created before there were ever auction channels.
Currently Radiant RIN is more a channel where Rangers old and new chat with each other. This may be because of the reason I stated above, or it may be that everyone who knew about it moved on to other things.
One thing is necessary to keep the channel alive: Information. Mention it to any and every Doc, Smith and Chef you know. Mention it to every Scout and Ranger you meet. The only way it becomes useful is through participation of players.
It will be slow to start if it hasn't already, but once it is known about and used it can be a very useful tool. And so much more pleasant for our customers than making them spam in the starport.

I've created a RIN channel on Lowca, but so far no one has used it.
