Thread: Hunter's shack for Rangers

Just a thought I had for rangers is to have a shack that is craftable only by master rangers, and can be placed by any ranger. Have it be the size of a small house, lots wise, and allow items to be placed inside to decorate it the way you want, make it a permanent structure, where maintenance is paid in animal resources (not cash), and because it is a "hunter's" shack allow it to be placed on ANY planet, with ownership non - transferrable to any non ranger. It could even go so far as having to be crafted from resources of the planet it is being placed on.

Just my thoughts

what does anyone else think?

This is a great idea that's been tossed around a lot. One of the major issues of opposition, however, is that it rightfully falls in the Architect's skillset to build houses.

In order for it to be placed on Adventure planets I think it'd need to have a restriction of some sort (maybe a one time maintenance fee that lasted a week?). At the end of which the Ranger must effectively pull everything out and move.

I was very dissapointed recently to find that Factories can be built on Adventure planets, with this in mind I don't see why this ranger structure couldn't be!

Ideally though... this structure would act as a staging point for group raids on things like the DWB or Krayt graveyard... or even Faction wars.

I have always been a supporter of this idea, the fact that more and more players (new and old) are suggesting it certainly says something.

It has been brought up several times. But your right about it being an architect thing to which i say

So?

Architect's make merchant tents why shouldnt they make these to? As long as they take a lot and hold stuff. If they are temporary we make them

I was recommending letting them build them for us yeah...

That's as fair a trade off as I can think of.

and to show my support:

Name: Deed for Hunting Cabin
Skill Needed: Master Ranger
Complexity 18 - Specialized Crafting Tool
XP Gained n/a
XP Per Resource n/a

Resource List:

1. Requires 150 units of Hide
2. Requires 150 units of Bone
3. Requires 200 units of Hard Wood
4. Requires 10 similar Structural Module
5. Requires 1 Light Power Core Unit
6. Requires 1 Small Structure Storage Module

The Hunting Cabin is the ranger attempt at a permenant structure. It can hold 75 items. It requires maintenance costs the same as a medium house due to the harsh conditions it must be maintained in. Because of the complexity of the structure, only a Master Ranger can build and place a structure and the structure requires 6 lots. The structure may be placed on Adventuring planets.

Thats for the hunting shack looks like a list for Wookie armor

Nice schematic there looks almost like the merchant tent one. How did you come up with your numbers?

went to SWGCraft.com and looked at the schematic for the Small house and the Merchant Tent. Did some tweaking of the numbers until I got something comparable to a small house.

I like that except for the number of lots. 6 is just way to many. It should be 1 just like a style 2 Small Naboo house. High Maintance cost is questionable since factories built on the adventure planets don;t hav ethe same restriction.

Just trying to come up with a way that we don't end up with ranger cities on adventure plannets. It is admittedly a little high and my little farming setup on Endor would be impossible with that many lots. If you can think of a way of making them less desireable, I am all for it. I just figured that making it an unreasonable lot size would take care fo limiting them.

Making it one per Master Ranger (and that you have to keep Master Ranger to have it) should be enough. If you drop Master Ranger, the house goes away. Most people won't be willing to keep Master Ranger for a house on the adventure planets (especially given that a factory works almost as well).

Personally, I'd like to see Master Rangers be able to build small houses on the advanced planets with the clause that you must remain a Master Ranger to retain the house. Drop and it insta-poofs.
