I'm pretty positive u can't hit a giant canyon krayt. Only a juvenile can be trapped (and it gives 2k xp). I've tried several times before.

And to answer the original poster's question. Trap rancors. They give great xp. If you have someone to tank for you u can do it pretty quickly. Also if you find an ancient bull rancor , its even better. Enraged give you about 1.2-1.5k xp and ancient bulls give you the max you can get from one creature, 2k.

You might end up missing alot untill you get further through Ranger. I maxed out the second box on Dantooine with Voritors. Was getting over 600xp per and hit with almost every trap whereas with Rancors I missed too much to make it worth the time or traps. After the second box go rancors though.

I had a hard time trapping rancors until I had advanced trapping II. Prior to that, giant and mutant baz nitches (also on dath) give good xp. I had a successful hit at least 3/4 of the time, and they're pretty harmless if you don't get surrounded. Don't remember the exact xp per critter, but I did the entire trapping line on dathomir and it went very quickly.

Oh, and congrats on making ranger. I just read your other post (3k xp til...) and I was tickled by your enthusiasm. I hope you enjoy the profession as much as I (and many others) do.

I'm already 4-0-4-0. Got tired of spamming traps, so I went to do a little fishing on Dath. I'm WAY up north, and nothing is around... kinda scary. But I'm having a blast

I made novice Ranger this morning, and finished the scout xp needed for Wayfar and Tracking. I want to work on trapping next, but I'm not sure how high of a level creature I can hit with a trap. Any ideas or information on the best creatures to use traps on for xp? Thanks.
