Well heres what happened. I started an rp character on a euro server without giving it much thought last week. Figured I'll try ranger as a wookie. Keep in mind that my fav part of the game to excape the constant grinding, in *every* profession just about, was to simply head out and start running. My primary char was in the beginning a CM and there were no mounts or vehicles. So I ran all over Tat, Talus, Naboo, Rori, Dant(made me wish there was an archaeologist profession: yes I am a geek!). Loved it.
Then I started the hologrind, yes many of us did it and aren't ashamed of it. However, I looked forward to the "quest based" system for Jedi. Knew Jedi would be a grind, thought it should be really. But have become completely and absolutely bored now. Back to the future ranger, now scout, wookie char. I thought, I like being alone in this game at times. I love running all over and exploring. So I'll try ranger.
Wow. I really do like doing this. Then I just finished reading a post "Ranger Saved My Life." I feel exactly as the writer does about grinding and wanting jedi and wanting to rp in SW.
Sohere is my question about my primary human tkm. What if I took him TKM/MasterRanger/box4 in the 2 melee FS branches/box4 in the 2 FS def branches. Obviously finishing the FS boxes as I did ranger. Has anyone done this? Would anyone like to make any non-flaming comments?
Thanks

Can't comment on the FS boxes, but master ranger/tkm is a lot of fun. Paks is right-- with the exception of bf, this combination is incredibly self-sufficient. Before I decided on tk, I dabbled in swordsman and fencer to see what went best with my ranger. Those profs had some good aspects to them, but as someone who spends a lot of time in the wild, I found that tka suited me best. The meditate line is way handy, and the speed and toughness doesn't hurt, either.
I also have a ranger/rifleman on radiant that I haven't played in months. A lot of people use that template. Rifleman is very powerful and compliments ranger well. In my opinion, if you want ranged damage to go with your ranger, do rifleman. If you want melee, I think tka is the best. Have fun with whatever you decide, and good hunting.

First, thanks so much for the comments. Have to admit from the few forums I have visited since I started playing a longlongtimeago, this seems to be one of the friendliest and more focused on the fun of playing rather than the uber. Now to my confession...
Well I'm embarrassed to say it, which is why I left it off, but I am currently a TKM/MRifleman. Love both, they both have great advantages, and together they make a great combo. But I agree with the pro TKM posts here it seems far more serviceable in the field to tend ones own wounds and temp-buff oneself with the meditate branch.
Usefulness aside I feel about TKM the way most of you do about Ranger. Its fun, I love it, and can't imagine giving it up after doing it this long. Of course if I ever visited the TKM forums I am sure I could find plenty to complain about. Forums seem to do that to people
Anyone else wanna comment on the FS aspects of this template.

You won't get your to-hit bonuses to creatures with a TKA as they only work on ranged professions. That said, I seriously considered a TKA/Ranger template for a while. But I'm gonna master out Rifleman first... max out Rifleman XP and then grind out TKA and see which one I like better. Ranger mixes well with just about ANY combat profession for PvE. For PvP, Ranger hurts due to the number of points tied up in it.

There are a lot of Ranger/TKAs who love it. TKA really adds to Ranger in the sense that you really DO become self-sufficient (self-healing), except for battle fatigue. But really RunningRoutes is right - basically any combat prof fits well with Ranger. Go with the one you enjoy the most!
