Well im a bit confused my template is a littled messed up atm

Swords 2-2-1-2
BH 0-0-2-2
Scout 4-0-4-0
and a smattering of medic (1-0-0-0) i think.

I will be continuing up the swords line to master.

I dont do PvP I only do PvE, I always hunt buffed unless its real low level stuff, also I wear 80% kin comp armour.

I am part of PA that hunts for cash.

Just wondering if master ranger is a good match for swords, for PvE and resource collection?

Cheers

It all depends on how you play. If you go for the big resources that pay 100-150cpu then ya, you can make a killing. But honestly, a very strong pvp template with a smidging of scout and a good harvesting droid can usually harvest more resources per hour [but not per kill]. That said, if you don't pvp and really enjoy hunting, you might like Ranger. The advantages, IMHO, outweigh the disadvantages. On Dathomir, for instance, I can walk unmolested through most nests. This really let me decrease my reliance on Buffs and armor, thus letting me stay out in the field longer. Our ability to track, while not great, I find usefull. Usually if I find a good area of something and milk it dry, by the time I'm done another area will have spawned and I can /areatrack and run right there. And tents, they have a use too. They look freakin' cool.

Bottom line, if you like hunting creatures and don't plan to pvp and think you'll find our limited ranger skills usefull you will probably love it. For me, it's the solo thing. I feel ranger is the only class that is pritty much independent of any other class or support class. I don't burn through armor hunting, that saves a ton over the long run. I don't need to spend a fortune on the best weapons, a decent noe will do. I hardly ever buff, but will ocasionally use brandy for some high CL creatures. And even if you dont have medic skills, which I have novice, you can pop a tent and wait out the minor wounds. I think you'll find the BF staying fairly low too; after spending a solid week of play time never visiting a city I had 53 BF, 50k wooly hide, and a hell of a time. With all that said, good luck in your decision. And now for the selfless rangermotto; "Ranger isalifestlye, not a profession."

With Ranger the real rule is just pick the combat profession that you love. As a Ranger Swordsman you will be weak on defensive mods - but the buffs and armor will probably make up for that. If all you are interested in is the harvesting aspect of Ranger you may want to consider only going up the tracking line. If you are interested in playing/roleplaying a Ranger type character definitely go the full nine yards. You will get a ton of contracts just from the fact you are wearing a Master tag, even though Master does not harvest a great deal more than 0040. People will automatically look to your for their harvest and tracking needs as soon as they see that tag.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Yeah I do want the prestige that goes with Master Ranger, should enable my PA to pull in more work from crafters wanting resources.

Ability to track creatures such as krayts also has its advantages to.

I did try ranged combat, but find it impersonal and no good when the mobs agro you.

Indeed it strike me that ranger is a lifestyle, one im sure i can cope with.

Thx again

Then get master rifleman, with COVER and some bio camo/cover clothes you will never need armor or buffs.
