I am currently workin on my second round of mastering ranger and i picked up SL for some fun, but now i like it. I cant decide if i should keep SL and drop ranger. or drop some of my combat prof for both master ranger and sl. Anyone got any suggestions on how to make such a template could work?

Did you master squad leader? If not, why not just take a few useful lines of SL and dabble in whatever you like from Ranger. If I dropped anything from ranger, my personal choice would be:
Ranger 4040
Squad Leader 0030
Master Rifleman
Novice medic
That leaves me with exactly 0 SP left over.. the benefit of that template is that you can harvest and /conceal well, and you have +25 melee defense when grouped and you can cure dizzy/stun and send /sysgroup messages. Come to think of it, that might not be a bad template to lead PvE hunting parties.
Character builder. Play around with that and see what you'd like.
Otherwise, Lythender would know more than I would about being a SL/Ranger.

Well, Master Ranger/Master Squad Leader works fine for me
. But it is a bit weak.
As for templates, I might modify frightwig/kimi's suggestion as such:
Ranger 0040
SL 3044
Master Rifleman
The medic is nice but I think your groups will get more out of some extra SL skills (especially if you have a CM or doctor around). This gives you ranged and melee defense, group terrain negotiation +50 (always nice), formup, boostmorale, retreat, and retreat (my favorite skills in SL).
Dropping the Ranger wayfaring makes you lose the camo kits but you will still have full terrain negotiation (from the SL mods--just make sure you always are grouped, even if it is with a pet) and gives that TN to other players (they will have at least Master Scout TN).
Master Rifleman gives you a lot of killing power to go with all that. And you have 1 skill point free for FS skills.

I hear alot of people say go rifleman, however right now im a pistoleer and while i could do rifleman, it seems that rifles are often alot more expensive than pistols. I mean, the tenlos rifle goes for around 300k, on average i have around 200k - and im just not sure i could afford such a template as i'm not a "contracted" ranger ( i dont have anyone to sell any harvest to).

rebelcapt, the best way i have found to locate buyers, is just go to the trade forums and look for people who are buying certain shifts. Also, u can always list what you have, give a starting price and let the bidding commence. You never know if you may find a doctor or chef who needs grinding material. And if you have quality resources, then thats all the better.
I recently made a nice profit from hunting on endor. I found the person on the forums requesting someone to hunt herbivore. That really is the best way , IMHO, to find good contracts that will fatten your purse so that you don't have to worry too much about weapon cost.

I have seen succesful threads on the trade forum from rangers like this
"What to hunt"
subject - Ranger for hire what organics do you need
You would be suprised that you'll actually get replies from doctors, chefs, armorsmiths
