im starting to like fighting unbuffed on bigger critters, but one thing that makes things turn very ugly, is multiple agro. meaning i throw a stun trap to get the critters attention and all of his "social" buddies jump in.

Is there a way to avoid agro with social creatures? im a swordsman, so my only method of fighting is maskscent, throw trap, COB, then get ready to rumble, unless they all join, its burst, and if burst has been used recently, its get trampled.

or is it best to only go after non-social

As a TKM who fights unbuffed I found the following tactic works ok. I /conceal, run up to one creature attack it, peace, then leg it. I have noticed that often there is a pause before the creatures buddies join in, so if I can get sufficient distance between me and them before they notice me hitting their mate, then they don't join in. If this fails then burst run and keep going till only one is following you then turn back and attack it. This has worked for me on Dath and Endor. However, if your camo drops then it gets very messy, very quickly. I leave an X34 out about 50-100m away that I can run to if I get into trouble.

Use a CDEF rifle from 60m, tag the target twice, peace out. This should keep them from all bullrushing you. With all the fighting i do on Yavin this usually becomes an issue with Tybis and Skreeg Warriors which can ruin your day in large groups.

Im going to try to use my probot instead of a CDEF. But sometimes he likes to run into a fight and sometimes not. There used to be a program option "RANGED" to change your droid from ranged to melee or to force it one way. But its not on there anymore.

If they are agro, you can use the natural agro to single pull them. Take off maskscent/conceal, peace (make sure the peace symbol shows up), walk up to one single creature and get him agroed, run away before his friends join in (but DO NOT attack--the friends only join in if you end up attacking their friend). If they are not agro, you can sometimes taunt them away from their friends.

being a ranged person i use a slightly different method from melee. when i first get to a lair i maskscent then i hit the target with a bleed and peace. then i go prone at about 60m and wait. once the bleed ticks the one with the bleed auto aggros you and runs at you, not drawing the attension of the others. then kill harvest and repeat.

after the first wave and you hit the lair once, just drag them out 60m from the lair be4 the next one spawns and the others usually won't aggro you.

well after some small experimentation i found out the perfect method for me.

Traps! i throw a trap at the max distance, usually around 45m or so, and i PEACE out of the fight right after the trap leaves my hand. right after i peace, i run back about 20m, if the trap works, it just pisses off the single creature who i targetted, the others dont care. I guess its the creatures own fault then, its like tossing a rock at its head, you look the other way to look innocent, and it comes closer to investigate, and bamb! its all alone! tested it alot last night, and as long as peace is done before the trap hits, it only single agros, now if it does hit before peace, everyone in its species will want to kill me lol.

I will give this a try tonight. Good idea.

BTW I hope a dev or two has noticed all the unbuffed threads that have popped up both on the ranger forum and that one on the gameguide forum. So they take it into account when working on the combat upgrade.
